8 of 10 for me after a month of ownership. My Boy Racer days are long past. This forum is filled with them, which is understandable. But it's what I need at this point in my life. I've owned many sports cars over the years, beginning in the early '70s.I am satisfied though with it though.

My ZL1 is without a doubt the best performance car I have ever owned by far. Only if ever I need the cash will I sell it.

It is a keeper.

But the 351 4 speed top loader Falcon I built as a teenager will always be in a special place in my car heart. If I could find it I would buy it back.

+1 for the car we all built as a teenager! Mine was a 78 Camaro that my uncle gave me. I blew the 305 within a month, and replaced it with a 71 Vette LT1. So I guess I have come full circle, having just picked up my 18 SS with the new LT1! I got the GM lowering kit, 1LE sway bar kit, and the GM CAI installed before I took it home.

I've also owned a 87 GTA which was another very fun car.

To answer the OP, I love the car. 10 out of 10 when I can drive it like it is intended to be driven. New England winters put a damper on driving fun since I need to run very squirrely winter tires. The A8 transmission sucks arse, but mostly because of reliability issues. You buy this car because you love to drive like a fool, not for practical purposes.

A blast to drive I'm sure but no cargo space, no trunk and no useable backseat etc etc. I understand all that but would this car be your choice if given the option again? I think I can pick one up for $37-38k. Can you believe I still go back n forth between this and the civic typeR Yes, Apples and Oranges.. Thanks
I was on a fence also but my other choices were a 2015 Z28 or 2018 Z51 Corvette . My 2014 SS1LE was a 9 , my 2018 SS 1LE is a 10 . It's not a family car .

Great feedback.. My first car was a 1978 Z28 as well to whomever posted that. Sold my 2014 911 C4S two years ago and have the itch. Having said that I have three high school kids who will be attending college soon so I want to be practical or should I say get into something reasonably priced. Escalade lease is up in 8 months and this could be a daily at that time but most likely not.. Yeah I know big transition from a caddy as a daily. I posted weeks ago that I was worried also about ZL1 power envy. Should I be? Don't want to spend the extra 22K.

Hey WCKD 1LE even better then your wifes Grand Sport ?? That would speak volumes to me.

It’s a 10 for me during spring, summer, and fall but during winter and polar vortex’s it sits in the garage and feels like a 2

Totally depends on the power envy, but I can tell you that as a daily driver, the SS is a barely contained monster, with most power not normally usable. The ZL1 would be downright silly. Get into an SS and drive it hard, You'll be pleasantly surprised.

That said, if you're going to do track time, the ZL1's extra power will feel just right.

I'd say 9.5/10 for capability, 7/10 for daily driving use.

Visibility you get used to... most folks anyways. It's not easy to get out of, and I'm not in bad shape. The doors are long and the car is wide, which makes parking in a place you can actually open the doors enough to get out of interesting in some places. Rear seat and trunk are enough for my needs but obviously limited.

The car drives easy in traffic, the torque makes it feel like it accelerates effortlessly, and the clutch is light and consistent. Shifting is excellent.

If anything the chassis is too good, it's not as exciting as a Vette of some other sports cars at speed, it just feels like you're always driving too slow and you should have taken that corner faster. It handles the 455 hp easily.

I have to agree your two choices are quite odd...other than the 4 wheels, seems to me you should easily gravitate to towards one over the other rather quickly if you were to test drive both.

I have a company truck I'm in 300+ miles a day so I'm lucky to jump in the Z once a week...especially during hunting season.

There's really nothing I can complain about as a non daily driver but sure the small console would be a problem otherwise. One thing I was very surprised with was the trunk space with the superficial back seats down which I leave in that condition. I have my FFL as a side biz & can load even the longest boxes in the back & it's very refreshing to slide into the Z after being in the F150 & still be able to knock out some errands / shipping. That was something I was not expecting & just one of the little things about the camaro that makes me smile for some reason. Trunk space & back seats were the last thing on my mind.

Since the awesome A8 transmission is going to shit on me again plus all the other problems like crap HVAC, fogging windshield, and leather seats tearing out by the shoulder I would say 2/10.
