For ZL1, use the GM lube in post #2 and you will be fine. 2.1 quarts. Fill your emptied rear end until the fluid dribbles out the fill hole or you hit the 2.1 quarts, put the plug back in, tighten, and you're done.

Follow the lube manufacturer's guidance for non-GM lube.

So where is everyone buying there AC Delco LS Gear Lube 75W-90)10-4034 I stopped at our dealership and it was $30.00 a quart you can find it online for about half but then U add shipping and its not that much cheaper.I thought NAPA or someplace like that but the one I checked our local one didn't caring the LS Gear Lube!!

I bought 3 qts from gmpartsdirect.com this past March and the total was $51.07. $13.70/qt and $9.97 shipping.

I took mine to the dealer to have it changed. They had to flush and fill 3 times to clean the clutch packs. It put 65 miles on the car and used up about 20% of the tread on the front tires. According to the service manual after each flush you need to drive in figure 8s then drive for 20 miles, drain refill and do it all over again.

Is there anything special about the ZL1 rear end from a SS?

Strut tower brace(GM), CAI, Blade Spoiler, ZL1 wheels and tires, Heritage grill, Dual mode exhaust, and thats it, no more..except for the lowering springs..Ok Hotchkis springs were delivered today, thats it..
