Shift Points on the 8-speed Auto

So, just picked up my 2017 2.0t with 18 miles...WooHoo. I've owned quite a few Camaro/TA in the past.

Once the 1.500 mile break-in passes, am thinking about the Injen EVO7300 intakes. One of its benefits is bringing peak power to 6k (not just the 5.6k) However, where does the car shift when you floor it ?
If the car shifts at 5,600 there's a loss of benefit there for me.

Thanks all !

I don't have an auto, but manual mode would be your best friend for that. The stock transmission tuning is quite conservative and shifts early from what I've seen.

Yeah the Auto will shift you very, VERY early if you are not putting your foot through the carpet. However! The transmission will shift around 6k rpm if you are really pushing it. I have left it in Auto mode and actually gotten nervous that it was not going to shift. So that will give you a good idea.

I literally never drive in Auto mode, always manual shifts for me. I like the control and I don't like being in 7th gear going 30 mph.

Plus... I like downshifting

EDIT: I have the Evo7300 and I love it. If you are looking for more blowoff noise, go with the open Injen CAI and not the 7300. Both look great and perform great.

Wide Open Throttle shifts will occur between 6200-6300RPM on the stock ECU tune. You will not lose anything gained from the intake. You've definitely picked the right intake! I've posted all over this site about how nice the Injen Evo 7300 is compared to the other options available.

I wouldn't consider 6200-6300RPM @ WOT to be an early shift. I'm assuming you're talking about part throttle shifting?

From the videos I've see with the auto 2.0T, I've seen basically all the WOT upshifts at 5500-6000 RPM. Like I said, I don't own an auto, so I haven't experienced its behavior, and I'm only basing my information from what I have seen.

Tach lag is an actual thing. I'm basing my estimates off data logs.

Are you serious?! 30 mph in 7th gear? Does the engine seem like it's lugging?

I use to drive conservative with the manual until I learned that I can still get 27/28 mpg by staying in the power band around 3k rpms. I've got so used to it that I can't stand driving conservatively anymore because of the lag.

Yeah it's a little lugging but im sure the engine is designed to run like that. I live in an area where if I get on the highway, there's a 90% chance of hitting awful traffic 24/7. The a8 was a no Brainer. That being said it's not bad, and 7th going 30 was a bit of an exaggeration but honestly going down my residential street at 25, it gets to 5th gear. I just cope with the auto by putting it in manual mode
