(custom) intake installed

Hey guys,

I've installed a Blackwing intake tube and had it with the stock filter and it seemed fine. No real HP gain from what I felt.

Then I installed the G5CR intake filter (stage 1) along with it..

It's been 2 days and I can feel some power in 1st, 2nd and a little and 3rd, but not too much in 4,5,6.

Also, the RPMs seem to come down slower when driving.

It revs faster in the first gears, but idk if it's just me, I can't really feel any gains.. It felt faster with the stock box.

Does this sound normal? I've had an intake on every other car i've had - Mustangs, and I felt a difference. I'm not sure on this car though.

Ideas? (stock LS3)

PS When I installed the intake tube, it was paired with the K&N drop-in.

On another note: The stock intake with the K&N drop-in has felt the most gains in my opinion.
interesting..

Get a scoop/WW relocate kit from Apex or JRE, and get rid of that engine cover- it just retains heat

You are sucking in hot thin air with the filter sitting in the engine bay unprotected. What you want cool dense air. You are probably making less power than stock.

I agree. You've essentially made a hot air intake.

I would go rotofab and not look back.

YUP, wrong intake. Nothing but hot air robbing combustion. LOL, you could box it in with some cardboard!!! LMAO

I had the Blackwing and ran it with the stock box and a K&N drop in filter. That felt like a good power upgrade. Just go back to the stock box with drop-in.

Cool

Yeah the position of the filter now(as you can see), leaves hardly any space for a heat shield. I tried seeing if I could do something with cardboard as a template, but it's just too tight I think. It would look ghetto horrible. Ha.

Guess I'll have to go back to the stock filter with K&N.

Even with the blackwing, it didn't seem that much of an upgrade though. Hmm..

Or you can just sell what you have and get a CAI, Roto-Fab, Halltech, or Vararam.
