road course driving school in texas

First, I hope this is in the correct section. If not, would a mod please move it. Thanks.
Okay, so here goes. I'm looking for entry level (beginner) road race schools in texas. I've seen where texas world speed has a 2 day class, very reasonable rate, but no schedule? MSR houston would be fine as well. I'm interested in a day that would allow me to drive my 15 1le, and purchasing same class for my father (15 370Z sport package) . My father has been on MSR in his car, but I'm not sure what all was involved. I think it was just a 370Z club day. No instructor. I've also been on MSR back in 09 at a SRT experience. Looking for much more of a structured real training event. Being as I'm not planning on heavily modding my car, I want to be able to get as good as I can be first. Note, my SRT day was the only time I've turned right at speed, lol. I did turn in 2nd fastest time in slalom though

Thanks for looking and any/all replies.

Most tracks don't have their 2016 schedules out yet. They get their racing schedules finalized first and then the free weekends get scheduled as HPDE or driver training events. You can email them and ask when they anticipate release and then watch closely. The earliest track days in a year always fill up fast.

Most any HPDE beginner run group gives you an experienced passenger to teach you all day. Going with a true school will give you more classroom education but tends to cost quite a bit more.

Avoid private club track rentals as they usually have no education component and it's 50/50 if beginner groups give in-car instruction.

www.thedriversedge.net would be a good choice - they put together an A+ event. They just had a 2 day event at COTA. Check out their schedule on the website for early 2016 scheduled events.

Not a race school, but will help you learn what you need to know to build up to racing.

MySst, I think that's exactly what I'm looking for. Perhaps I used the wrong terminology, lol. I have no aspirations to be a real racer, just want to learn how to properly navigate a road course, and be the best driver I can be.

Chin motorsports have quite a few track days on schedule. All new members get specialized instruction at each track. Then after a few track days you get to drive the tracks on your own.

Synner, thanks for your reply. 12blkgrayRS, I'm not at all familiar with Chin. I'll check them out later as I'm about to head to bed. Have an early flight out to work in the am.

I also suggest Chin Motorsports. H-Town Camaro Club has tracked with them and I am in talks with setting up some more events with them in 2016. Great group to track with.

OP, try this one www.clubregistration.net
if you do a search, you can find events from several orgs at tracks near you.

as an example: TWS has a PDS (performance driving school) scheduled for 6-7Feb, registration opens up 23Dec @ 0800. you will need to be quick, because the beginners (green) group fills up quickly. the green group folks each have an instructor assigned to them for the full weekend along with classroom instruction.
most of the organizations who put on HPDE/PDS events are quite good. don't feel as though you have to find the "best" one. as many folks say, you will not be a great driver right away.........you get better every time you go out.

good advice for a new guy to go with chin. they are the most structured track day group ive worked with.
im sure there are other tracks in and around texas but COTA is extremely expensive and that texas world track is closing i think.

Hello,

Just wanted to update the reference, perhaps someone is looking for the information (like I was): https://chintrackdays.com/schedule.aspx

I'm going to Eagles Canyon in December. Jack Beachem is an event manager, so you may contact him as well for the event details, if you're interested: Jack (at) ChinTrackDays (dot) com
