Clunking noise

So recently starting hearing/feeling a clunking noise under my feet area. It happens when going over any irregularities in the road, up and back down inclines etc. Feels like its under my feet or in the general region.

Car drives fine no issues that I've noticed. But the noise can be heard even with radio on some. 🤔

Anyone experienced this or something similar that I can possibly check on?

Yep. I was going to remove wheels and start there and then get it on a drive on lift to look underneath if anything seems weird.

I would say look at the strut on that side more than likely the front ones need replaced.

There are so many things it could be so you need to narrow it down before anyone could help you. If you don't have a lift I suggest this as a cheap $100 investment.

I doubt its a strut, because if it were to make a clunking noise it would have to be completely loose or broke, either way you wouldn't like the drive. Has any work been done under the car recently, say last six months?

The only thing under the floor pan is the Trans cross member, and you would think you would feel the trans bumping up and down. Also if any of the rubber hangers have broken on the exhaust it could smack the the brace bar on a good bump. My guess is you got some work to do yet.

i thought this at first as well. But wouldn't it do it on all bumps not just the irregularities in the road. Will take a look either way. Driving me nuts.

Good info here. Yes I had it in the shop for a fuel pump that went out. They installed a DSX Aux kit and re-tuned it again.

Will be calling them first to see if they might know.

These are all great ideas to check. Thank you for the great info

They would have taken the exhaust off to get access to the tank so I would check the two rubber supports by the pig/ carrier, also the two by the NPP exhaust tips. Some drop the rear cradle if they did that there could be a lot they left loose since they would have pulled the drive shaft, if so hopefully they replace those bolts they are single use.

The only difference in a good hack vs a bad one is the good one charges more..

When I called shop that was first thing they mentioned was the exhaust being loose. Told me to swing by and they will take a look. Only been couple months and honestly I heard it over month ago but I thought it was just road being so subtle. Gotten worse since though.

Would make sense, a lot of guys just get impatient and rips those off, you need to make sure you seat them well when puting back on. Also if your cars is a daily driver they can start to dry rot.

Update. So both front struts are leaking oil all over so they will be getting replaced along with new upper mounts. Noise continues to get worse and worse longer I drive it btw.

Will update back if noise is gone. Found nothing else wrong under the car.

I figured that was your problem as I stated above. You will be happy after you replace those because your car will even drive and ride better. Glad you found the problem.

If it turns out it's the struts and you didn't notice the difference in the ride you are one of the fortunate ones who will save a lot of money over time not replacing things that are wearing..
