Fulltime MS109

I have a chance to get my hands on a 55 gal for a price I find attractive... I was wondering what the drawback of running MS109 full time would be? I hear since it is a heavier fuel it is easier to build and keep up pressure with VS e85. Is this true? Am i completely off here? thanks in advance.

MS 109 (105 octane) is prob one of the best gas based fuels that you can buy, you are going to need timing and maybe fuel adjustments on your current tune to realize the gain or you will most likely lose power. Drawback is price..bigtime. I don't know your specs but I would think that an e40 mix will be much cheaper on the wallet and it may make even more power than the MS. My .02

Really good fuel, one of my favorites.

Although you would need less of it than E-fuels, you will need more of it than gasoline.

E-10 has a stoich value of 14.1

MS109 has a Stoich value of 13.4 this will put more demand on your fuel system that is already maxed out on gasoline.

Ted.

I've used MS 109 but was not impressed. I don't have cats so I don't need unleaded fuel. If you still have cats it is supposed to be the best unleaded. I run c16 or just good old aviation fuel. They both make more power for me than MS109.

I went through about 50 gallons of Vp MS 109 and I am impressed, even when I wasn't running a little meth/water it really allows you to run a lot of timing and it is expensive. I was pay 70 bucks for 5 gallons, it went up to 75 so I bought a 55 gallon drum for 700 so I saved some bucks doing that. Once I start racing I won't really drive it much on the street so after a while it will be straight 109 in the tank which is as stated above 105 octane, love the smell.

One of the benefits from e85 from what I understand is it's a bit more friendly in terms of power; you can be a bit rich or a bit lean and the power being made is roughly the same. Same with timing. Just generally a wider window for near maximum power.

At least that's what I've gathered over the years.

The downside is you'll get water blow by in your oil, and you need to watch out for it sitting in your tank or in storage.

I think for the cost ethanol simply can't be beat. But with the DI pump limitations... a bit more complex of an issue.

I still only run 93 on the street, 109 at the track. Couldn't afford to run it at 13 bucks a gallon on the street
