iPhone Support

The integration that GM did for the iPhone is not that great.
Very cumbersome to use and it comes up as an iPod. In addition, it does not capture hierarchy of the ipod (playlists, etc.)
Anyone thinking the same?
Can GM upgrade the software on the radio as they make improvement?
Everytime I plug it in it also warns me about interference noise.
Like the way they did OnStar and the rest of it especially the HUD.
Thanks

It will be much easier for them to update the software to support an open platform that does not require licensing from the manufacturer.

Looking forward to Android support!

I am now having multiple issues since I downloaded the itunes 4.0 operating software onto my iPhone. Prior to that I was able to listen to the iPhone through the USB port with very little issue. Now it only recognizes the phone 50% of the time and when it does you cannot usually change what song is playing or it will freeze up. I am also now getting that "interference" message.

How do we address this issue?

Android doesn't support any sort of direct playback/control like iPhone/iPod or even Zune does. It will just show up as a USB drive with files on it which the PDIM sucks at handling.

I tried my daughters iPhone on OS 3. Works well. I will call/write GM but I am sure with all the iPhones going to 4.x OS they are working on it. Can never assume though.

My USB support with my iPhone 3GS (on iOS 3) was great. Worked like a charm. As soon as I got my iPhone 4 (and upgraded the 3GS to iOS 4) they "sorta" work with USB. Seems the songs will play, but the titles are all wrong. Maybe it'll get fixed but I kinda doubt it. As an aside, the Bluetooth streaming still works great. Always has.

Codeman (who works in/with/near the PDIM team) said they're aware of the iPhone 4 issues and that they're working to figure out if it's their fault or Apple's fault and to get a fix in place. They're planning on releasing and update in the not too distant future (end of July-ish). He's working to see if they can give us a way to do it ourselves but we may have to take it to the dealers to do it.

I haven't had a problem with the iphone and the USB. A few times with the 3GS it would crap out on me. I think it was more about the USB connector thingy I was using. Upgrade to a stupidly expensive one and not the cheap crap you get with Apple. I've had no problems with this stupid $30 one I bought (when I noticed I forgot mine one day).
