You also need to understand that people with aftermarket exhausts or headers will notice that "farting" more than a stock exhaust. I noticed it from day one. Also when the arm kicks in and out you will notice it...

Just my 2 cents...when I had stock exhaust, I wondered if it was just the car dropping into 6th gear and lugging. When I got a FM AT axle back, it (when the AFM engaged) got magnified and sounded like kettle drums under my trunk. Now I am constantly driving paddles to keep it out of AFM, because it really makes the car sound like crap, like it needs a tune (so to speak). Never thought I would care about it, but now that I want the world to hear my muscle car exhaust, it bothers me enough to want to tune it out and take the chance that nothing power train breaks during the warranty period. If I knew about all the differences between LS3 and L99 when I bought the car, I might have gone for LS3, but damned, I really had to have my remote starter! LOL So either way, just enjoy driving this beautiful machine

I agree, it's getting old.. JAGERDAY, It's obvious an M6 will get rid of AFM.. But i'm sure the op is trying to figure out his options on HIS car. It is obvious the op is trying to work things out with his A6 and since you have a M6 go hijack another thread. Oh and BTW i will lose sleep over the purse comment, so juvenile....

Jag........its simply a matter of humoring the issue thats been bantered around the mulberry bush more times than can be counted, its generally accepted that even shadow boxers arms get tired sooner or later, their joints weak and worn, that is unless they're somehow immune from the aging process or blinded by denial. Its common knowledge that tuning out the AFM eliminates the mysterious gargling notes. Its also common knowledge that by doing so the automatic's otherwise stock muscle car performance can't be matched by the manually shifted versions of the same models, that is sans further extensive and expensive modifications.............
