Is the upgrade to the V8 definitely worth it?
So, you guys have probably seen my latest threads in regards to trading in my 2011 2LT/RS convertible for V8. I'm just about to pull the trigger on a 2011 2SS/RS Convertible (with a few thousand less miles, too!). I've just been thinking, do you guys think the upgrade to the V8 is definitely worth it? I just don't want to end up having buyer's remorse at the end of the day. I appreciate all input, thank you!

Test drive the 8. You will answer your own question.

That's what I'm expecting. I'm only going to have to put about $5K on top of my trade in to pick up the SS. So, at the end of the day, I'm not giving up a ton of money. I haven't driven the V8 before, so I'm really excited to see what kind of power I've been missing out on. |

All depends on your wants and needs. And how much money you have.
Lots more power if you need or want it. At least it is broken in and will be quick as soon as you get it. (many require about 5k miles to really feel special) Good luck in your decision. Jim

IMHO it all boils down to IF you're going to use that extra 100HP, especially in a comparison between a 2LT and an SS where top speed is the same. Sure in the SS you'll get off the line a little bit quicker, but turning the nannies off might see you in a ditch that little bit quicker as well
Having driven both, I wouldn't miss the extra horses.. others have a different opinion

Just remember this simple phrase and all of your problems will be solved..."There's no replacement for displacement."

With no offense to those who have a V6, I cannot imagine having a car of this type without the V8. Honestly. Now that could be the old school hot rodder in me, IDK. If it were my daily driver and I had a long commute, I might have fallen to a 6, but then it would not have been a Camaro. My daily driver is a 6 cylinder Blazer, in fact. Since I work from home though, even "daily driver" only means running errands, bank, post office. At any rate, if you're a gear head you will discover that the 8's the way to go.

The V6 is a great car. It's a lot of fun. The V8 is unreal. It's more than fun. It's outrageous and once you've been there, you never want to go back.

I bought a slightly used '12 LT and had it for eight months before I traded up. I was very happy (and impressed) with the LT but missed the power of a V8. No 6-banger could ever feel (or sound) as good as my SS.
My biggest complaint with the V6 was that it was black - impossible to keep clean without dealing with it every day. I actually looked into getting it painted but found I could upgrade to a new SS for the cost of a top-notch paint job - so I did it. No regrets!
