V6 LFX camaro vs. 2006 GTO
Hello all,
I have a full bolt-on lfx, and my buddy has a stock 2006 gto with the 6 speed manual with 30k miles. After challenging each other, I came to realize that my car is no slouch compared to this v8 monster... The results.... From the dig, we both launched at 4k rpm, and I immediately took a jump on him after first. Through second, we were about neck and neck, and when I reached high power band, I slowly began to walk away from him. Then through third, I took a car lengths lead on him and let off around 80. I couldn't believe I was able to take him! We went at it 2 more times with the same result. From the dig I was simply faster! At about a 40mph roll, and dropping it into 2nd, he walked away from me every time! I'm extremely pleased with how quick my car is, and my performance mods are the following: axle back exhaust, CAI, high flow cats, and a Hurst short throw shifter. My buddy is a decent driver, so his abilities weren't the losing factor for him. I had an awesome time and love my car!

He should have smashed you, no offense. He clearly needs to learn to launch his car (in fairness GTOs are very hard to launch I've read).
Also this will be deleted most likely since there are no street racing stories here

Yea, he's definitely needing to learn how to launch because those cars will murder a v6

Not here to hate but that GTO stock will still beat you, don't get me wrong I'm sure your car is quick for a V6 but if he knew how to launch n shift quicker, he would take you, but great job! The fastest car doesn't always win if the driver can drive it, that's y I have beat gt500 n srt8 but keep up the good job

The LS2's were overrated... My friend did 321 whp in his stock 6.0 6-speed and now 409 whp with heads/cam and full bolt ons. They really make about 380 hp to the crank stock... The times they typically run at my track reflect this.

With a 50 or 75 shot I can see you edging him out, otherwise he would win. Stock ls1 gto's were high 13/low 14 second cars... LS2 stock are typically mid 13 second cars on average with good driver.

You don't launch a 6.0 Goat @ 4000 rpm unless you are in a burn out contest, or have some tire and suspension mods!

With your mods your talking only maybe 50 HP difference. There is no way that gto launched at 4k even on( mexico ) roads. That thing would wheel hop bad unless he has anti wheel hop axles.

This was definitely driver vs. driver rather than car vs. car. Congrats on the win as it's street and anything goes. However, just hope you don't run into one in which the owner can drive (yes, even stock).

Just a reminder, it was in a secure location in a rural area where there were no other cars and way out in farm land! What a great time!

I for one can totally believe you took him through 2nd, but very surprised he didn't pull hard on you once you hit 3rd.
I know a couple brothers...one with a modded M6 V6, and the other had an stock L99, and until about 70 or 80mph the V6 would woop on the SS every time until the SS would finally walk on the V6. Thanks for sharing! Now hopefully the thread stays civil. We will see.
