He tore up the tracks in the area for quite a while..... Held several track records until they closed.

Dude, the modeling work you do is amazing... Love it.... You have the patience my bother has.... Kudos to some beautiful work....

It sounds like your brother was in the modified class since he was winding his own motors. I lived in Dallas and was in middle school when I raced and was in stock class, I couldn't afford the high end cars, had to mow lawns and worked part time at Tom Thumb grocery store just to afford the low end Bolink and old Associated 1/12 cars. R/C was expensive back then! We had to use ROAR approved motors with the sticker over the can to prove the motor wasn't tampered with. I'm sure some still cheated, lol.

We only had two shops that ran carpet, Mike's and another I can't remember the name of, Bob's I think it was? I know that Mike's is still around, Bob's is too but running only off-road behind the shop. I wanted to compete in 1/10 on-road but off-road started taking over and there wasn't enough guys to compete so the shops went off-road only. Me and my buddies raced in parking lots and the tennis court at school for a while. Those were some fun times! I'm not sure why on-road wasn't more popular, I guess the jumps in off-road provided more action.

They make a King Tiger too along with the Panther. They're not cheap kits, I spent about $1,500 building my Tiger I. They also just released a 1/16 M1A2 kit which I seriously want!

Prices are retail, you can get them cheaper from your local hobby shop or e-Bay.

My brother mentioned a shop in east Dallas called Eagle.

Turns out though he raced in doors mostly, it wasn’t on carpet. I was wrong. He pitted a few times for a guy at Mikes but never raced there... y’all may have crossed paths but never talked. Who knows.. that was a while ago...

I appreciate your comments, but I stopped painting a few years ago. I just cleaned up the garage and I don't even know where my airbrushes are.

I picked up a NOS Savage X 4.6 last month. So far I have installed...

Rpm center skid plate
Hpi sway bar kit
Hpi silver springs (softer rate)
Hitec HS-645MG (steering servo)
Du-Bro exhaust deflector
Venom Racing onboard temp/volt failsafe moniter
Fuel line that I can actually see through. Never was a fan of hpi's dark grey fuel lines.

I have a set of Mugen Seiki 1.0mm Clutch Springs and flywheel nut on the way.

Future mods..

Hpi wheelie bar
Hump rechargable receiver battery pack (cause this thing eats the 4 AA's in no time flat).
Hpi smooth silver tuned pipe (if I can find one)
Play around a bit with different shock and diff fluids
