Considering a ZL1 and looking for info

Hello ZL1 owners,
I am new to the forum and here for some advice.
I live in London, UK, and have been thinking for a while to buy a 2013 GTR, but I fell in love with the Gen6 ZL1 and now that prices are going down, I am thinking of importing one...All in it will come down to the same price of a GTR, but I will get a new car and I absolutely love it!
I have a few questions on different options/variants and hope you can help.
Do all ZL1 have PDR?
Do all ZL1 have noise valves on the exhaust?or just the Auto?Or is it an option?
Do all the ZL1 have magnetic ride dampers?
Now a question A10 trans. How does it compare with a DCT?
On my list a ported TB,Rotofab CAI,upper pulley, headers and full Borla Exhaust.
However I am new in the supercharger world and I am worried about high intake temps and overheating.
Is that going to be a problem with those mods?
Thanks a lot for now!

Pdr is an option so if you want it you need to find one with it. All zl1 cars have the npp exhaust with the valve that changes noise level based on mode and throttle input. All zl1s have mag ride unless you get a zl1 1le. Can’t help you with the automatic as I have never owned a performance car with an automatic. You will be perfectly fine with those mods. Do you plan on taking the car to a track ( road course track) if you do and you drive extremely hard you may want to consider a manual as the automatic cars can overheat due to the extra cooling involved with the automatic. Not a big concern if you don’t drive it at almost a professional race car driver level. On a 60-70 degree f day you can drive it hard and you won’t have an issue but on a 90 degree f day you will if driven extremely hard even without the mods (stock)

I wouldn’t pulley up the blower on a car that is going to be tracked unless you also beef up the cooling, which is probably hard to do on a ZL1. Maybe if you can run higher octane gasoline or ethanol, it would be okay, but the car is pretty fast stock...

1) No, but it's a great option
2) Yes all ZL1's have it standard
3) Yes unless you get the 1LE option then it's a much different suspension.
4) Sorry no experience with Dual Clutch Trans but the A10 is awesome especially the way it's tuned to the ZL1. The manual has no lift shift.
5) Mod list looks great and you will need to add a tune in there
6) No worries as this car has multiple heat exchangers dedicated to the supercharger.

To the OP, it sounds like you have a good list of mods for the car that will give you plenty of power and a whole lot of fun. I’m not sure on the fuel options in the UK but if you have access to E85 the flex fuel kit will help increase power and keep the engine safe and happy.

I don’t know why but I thought I heard something about the ZL1 would not pass inspection over seas due to the down planes in the front? Correct me if I’m wrong.

Thanks for the replies !
We don't have E85 here...
Yes a tune is a must for sure!
The ZL1 can be made road legal here.
It is the 1LE that is tricky, but I know of one that is road legal.
Would love the 1LE, but price is a bit off for me...

The A10 is a great transmission and is calibrated very well in the ZL1, in my opinion. When compared to something like BMW’s M DCT, it doesn’t have the instant response to paddle/shifter input. But with 10 gears to paddle through, it’s almost best to let the transmission do it’s own thing — and it’s pretty amazing in full automatic. The shifts don’t have the neck snapping brutality of some DCTs, but they’re very fast. It’s also much smoother than a DCT during low speed driving. Just my opinions as someone who owns an A10, but drives BMW DCT cars almost daily.

Get the PDR. It is awesome.

2018 ZL1 A10 Auto Videos (road & drag race):

I leave the A10 in full auto mode, since the time in gear is so short. It automatically goes into track mode and holds the car in a low gear for road course action. I've only occasionally had it downshift at a wrong time, which just momentarily upsets the balance of the car.

The A10 is not the type of trans you'll enjoy running manually. It's fantastic letting it do all the work. No one would ever confuse it with a DCT, it's not even great compared to other autos with manual gear shifts. In full auto its smooth and fast and leaves very little to be desired.

Can you give me a link of a A10 owner w/ a overheating issue ? I did a search and found an old post from 09/17. (1) ZL1 probably be a early 17 that had the firmware issues.
