Availability adjustment

I was in my local Chevy dealer yesterday and walked into the showroom. There sat a beautiful C8. It said C8.R edition on the side so I suppose it was something special. I glanced at the window sticker...$144K! Looking in more detail, I saw that included a $50,000 "availability adjustment". Thanks but no thanks...I'm personally not willing to spend 50% more than sticker on any thing....

I'm sure you're right....it just won't be me.
It made that 2018 C7 with 3.5K miles listed for $65K seem cheap....

One of the things to realize and i think people forget these days, is, that 2018 is 4 model years old now.

I think they only made 1k of those as well, total. It'll be worth it to someone. In the meantime, it'll sit in the showroom so they can sell you that Malibu over in the corner still for sale after you come in.

This sounds like Starling Chevrolet.

I feel the same way. The C8 is amazing, but it becomes less amazing when you ad $50k without really notable performance improvements. The C8.R edition has some nice add-ons, but that package was supposed to be around $6500 if I remember correctly. $144k can buy a whole lot of new or used car. Maybe it’s because I’m not rolling in dough, but if I had that kind of money to spend, I’d probably be wondering what that $65k C7 could be with $35k in mods, or what I could do with a $35k C6 and $35k for mods at less than half the price.

Supply and demand... a car is worth whatever somebody will pay for it. And right now, somebody will pay that (or at least the dealer is fairly confident somebody will pay close enough to that to get them into a negotiation). Car prices in general are absolutely wild right now, can't say that sounds surprising.

$144K is deep in 911 territory.

I guess its the old retail axiom....its easier to mark it down than it is to try and mark it up.

Start high and reduce if needed.

Never would I, even if its $20.00 over. I never pay sticker so it would be pointless to me.

It is and that $65K is crazy, too. But compared to a $50,000 upcharge it seemed reasonable...chuckle
