Anti-Camaro AWD Thread: Please participate!
For those who do not get the GM Authority daily newsletter, this was one of the articles today. http://gmauthority.com/blog/2015/05/...7311-312434101
That's right. GM is asking for opinions from Camaro fans, whether or not to introduce an ALL WHEEL DRIVE version of the Gen6 Camaro. In my opinion, this is sacrilege! I voted and posted a comment against it, suggesting that GM get rid of the non-selling "SS" sedan and reintroduce the Chevelle as their grocery-getter with various engines and, yes... even an AWD version. Or, make the whole line AWD. I'm all for GM keeping up with technology, but I'm even more geared toward maintaining certain traditions - specifically, that the Camaro remain a two-door, RWD, sports/pony/muscle car. The next thing you know they'll be wanting to make it a four-door. If you are a traditional Camaro enthusiast, please read the brief article and vote against the idea of an AWD Camaro. Thank you.

Would this be an option? If people can buy either or then who cares.

If it makes it perform better then why would any sports car enthusiast be against it? If you want an outdated pony car there are plenty of older ones around. I guess it's a lot easier for me since I'm not a "fan" of any particular brand and I just want the best I can get for my money.

While i wouldn't buy an AWD camaro, i have no problem if they decided to offer AWD as an option. If it helps get people into the camaro that otherwise wouldn't consider the camaro an option, i'm all for it.

Absolutely they should offer AWD if there is a market for it.

As long as it's not full time awd. If it's switchable then I say bring it on.Would make it fun to drive in the snow

I think it would be cool to have as an option to get AWD on the 6gen but personally I wouldn't buy it. I would stick with the RWD to save some weight and so I can still do burnouts

Camaro is trying to up it's performance, be agile, more nimble, etc....and that's good...
Even the article stated the idea was scrapped for the Cadillac (same platform as the Camaro) because of the added weight...If it's a bad idea for Cadillac, it's a bad idea for Camaro... They seem determined to kill the goose that laid the Golden Egg somehow...just can't leave it alone until they screw it up. Voted NO. |

Not opposed to the idea of an AWD Camaro. Wouldn't be in my driveway, but wouldn't mind seeing them on the road...
Actually, I think a 2.0T would be much more appealing in an AWD config. (might consider it as a 2nd car/daily driver) As for the 4 door Camaro idea... Wouldn't mind a 4 door Chevy based on the same Alpha platform as the Camaro/ATS as long as it is not called Camaro or looks like a stretched Camaro. Call it the Chevrolet Commodore

The added weight, complexity and cost that would affect the entire Camaro line is not worth it.
