FULL TANK WHEN DRAG RACING
How much fuel do you run at the strip....a full tank or much less. Reason I ask is I know the amount of fuel will add weight. Then again full tank will add traction and weight transfer.

I run between 1/8-1/4 tank. Drag radials so hooking isn't a problem. nice weight reduction with little gas

Does low fuel have any affect on the fuel pressure that the pump can deliver?

My tuner told me it does,he told me when I'm on the dyno fill the car up,but I'm not sure how to explain it.

as long as the pump is submerged in fuel and it doesn't slosh away from the pick up during the run I can't see how it would matter. Could warm the pump up a little I suppose with extremely low fuel level

Depending on how many passes you plan on going a 1/4 tank is your best bet.

1/2 tank at most here...less than an 1/8 tank is foolish

1/4 tank is all you would typically need. If someone wanted more traction i'd look into better suspension parts and better rubber and practice at getting off the line better. About the only thing more fuel is going to do is slow you down.

I'm a little concerned about the possibility of a fuel pick-up going dry and the consequences of low fuel pressure at max acceleration while spraying nitrous, so I stay between 1/4 and 3/8 tank at all straight line racing venues. I carry race gas in cans when drag racing so it is easy to add a gallon or 2 if I'm getting below a 1/4 tank. Me personally, I would never run below 1/8 of a tank because I've got too much money in my engine right now and even a very short lean condition on nitrous could melt it down. I don't think I would ever run more than 1/2 tank though, at that point it is just dead weight.
