Will Camaro get DCT in one day ?

Seems new Shelby GT500 is only DCT.

I wonder Camaro will get same DCT in future.

They also haven't released the price of the GT500 yet.

If the Camaro is continued, which I believe it is, there will eventually be a DCT or another iteration of an automatic with more gear ratios. An auto typically cost less to service than a DCT. I wouldn’t be shocked to see a DCT as an option in lower volume models like the ZL1 or maybe even the SS.

That’s not really relevant. It’s a GT500, it’ll be the most expensive one to date. People don’t necessarily shop those models (including the ZL1) to then ask about the price. The price is the price and people will buy them anyway.

Whatever it is, you will be so lucky to buy one at MSRP + $30K to $50K

Mustang owners are going to be pissed with the rotary knob. They'll accept the DCT, but they'll want a console shifter they can put into manual mode and slap back and forth instead of being forced to use paddles. Too many inexperienced guys trying to use paddles on a track miss a lot of shifts. But those smacking a stick do much better.

Camaro needs the DCT in the entire line up from the SS up and the regular 10 speed in all the rest.

The DCT from Tremec is a 7 speed, GM has been eyeballing that trans since 2016, Ford beat them to the punch again.

My source says that GM is working on the "next thing" beyond DCT - magnetic fluid clutch packs

I had a 2013 Golf TDi with a DCT and currently own a motorcycle with one (Honda Africa Twin) and they are superb in every possible way to a slush box. Instant shifts, no slip, easy to service, and if you need to replace the clutch packs it is a pretty strait forward proposition.

VW kind of gave DCTs a bad rap for cost to maintain as they purposely made them unserviceable without the VW handheld computer used to flush the fluid. In the end at 40K miles they need a $35 filter and 4 quarts of fluid. Just need the computer to activate all the valves so they drain all the old fluid

I had a 2013 Audi S4 with a DCT. Awesome!

Older DCTs has around town drivability issues. GM was looking at a DCT for the mid engine Corvette around the time of the bankruptcy but it was a poor execution. They also looked at one for small cars for fuel economy but it never materialized. My guess is the C8 may be first with a DCT.

GM can't get a conventional torque converter trans right, what makes you think they would be successful with a DCT?

I ran a BMW 3 series with DCT at the Track. Used the paddles all the time and never missed a shift.

Ford is way out in front on a lot of things. It just seems they don't put in the last 5% to really make things great. The S550 chassis isn't as good as the Alpha but GM would never even try to do something like the Voodoo. GM plays it too safe when it comes to powertrains. The last time they remotely pushed the boundaries was the LS7, and that was a decade ago. I guess they would rather just limp along until electrification comes along. Hell, how long will Caddy milk the same 3.6 V6?
