ZL1 Addons Titanium Lug Nuts
When I initially received them the shipping box felt empty. The ZL1 Addon lug nut is so light my GF thought it was plastic. I love the Titanium color & the open head style. The acorn style stock Lugnuts will not be missed.

I picked them up on sale for $268 I believe. That included Ca tax.

I wonder how well they would match the SS 1LE wheels.
The stock chrome ones stick out like a sore thumb, but I am not sure I want black either. Maybe these would be a good compromise

Leathal Camaro has a great Youtube video on the ZL1 Addons titanium lug nuts with his black HRE wheels.

. Titanium is not cheap. You get what you pay for. $70K car deserves goodies

I did more research and think I will stay away from titanium lug nuts. When the hub heats up, steel and titanium expand at different rates and temperatures, not a good combo IMO for the things that keep your wheels on your car.
I do like the open ended look though, so I think I am going to go with the black chrome Monster brand ones from Wildhammer Motorsports.

Looking good!
For me, the metallurgy, hardness, and dissimilar metal interactions should all be considerations. While most people won't have any problems with OEM & aftermarket lug nuts, some might. And you have to balance cost vs. reward. I dig the looks of the open nut. The weight reduction on the hub is extremely insignificant. And the difference between lightweight lug nuts and OEM are only 1lb-2lb maximum total. Factor in the proximity to the hub and its indiscernible. The difference in hardness of your studs vs. your nuts can become a problem with thread galling, cross threading, and stripping over time. Especially if you are using third-party shops to do your servicing. Furthermore, stainless, aluminum, and titanium fasteners typically show the most galling over time. The majority of people on this planet cannot improve their track times with an unsprung rotating weight reduction of a pound or two. Now I'm adding high quality open lugs to my to-do list. Material will be listed as TBD. |

Both Ti and open lugs are a bad idea for a street car! Seriously, just stay far, far away.
If you want nice lugs just go with McGard splined lugs. They have a wheel install kit that includes locks too, and they are also the best wheel locks. Also sold in sets of 4 so you can buy 4 extras and replace the locks for track. |
