ok... it used to be that one of the rule books (NHRA or IHRA, can't remember which) had the rollbar at 11.99... they they changed it to be 11.49 like the other one...

I think if I get this worked out I will be close to being told I need a roll bar. Can't wait till we line up on black Friday

May I ask why you wait to step on the gas as you let go of the brake?

My setup is similar to yours (stock/automatic). I hold the brake at the light while revving against the trans, which is about 1200-1400 rpm.

Then on the last yellow, I nail it. With my 2.73's, I don't get any detrimental wheel spin and am very consistent.

I think you need the extra revs at the take off ...

My Camaro always got its best runs by "flashing the converter" vs running the RPMs up.. My Mustang liked to be stalled up like you are suggesting but not the Camaro.

Wonder why it's not the same for both cars?

Weird ...

Same here - I was consistently .3 faster by flashing vs torque loading.

Ok.. how are you launching? I found I got my best times by:

left foot on the brake
right foot on the gas
bring the RPMs up to just over idle
when you are ready to go, let off the brake and hit the gas, basically at the same time... one fluid motion, so to speak...

I wonder if that is some of my trouble. Maybe I am giving it to much RPM's at the line. I was somewhere near 1000 rpm's or so I thought. Maybe I should try and just barely be on the gas.

thanks again for posting this up John.

Both RWD, similar weight, auto trans, etc., etc.

So unless a car is getting excessive wheel spin, launching at higher rpm's (closer to peak power band) is always the way to go. That doesn't change, no matter what the car.

Whatever the case, brake revving is what works for me ...

On my old car torque breaking always gave me slower 60' times. Stalling the car isnt always the best way to launch in an auto, it depends on a lot of things.

Your 60' is about .4 seconds to slow. I'll go with SCRMING on this one..
