I have been claiming this for years now! Charge the same amount to obtain them and cut the production price in half. How hard is it to figure this out!!!!

How much do you think the state makes off these tickets? Neither I nor anyone I've ever met that's gotten a plate ticket has ever paid for it.

I got one for $75 in 2000. It gave the cop a reason to pull me over at 1AM to see if I was drinking. I wasn't drinking so I just received a no front plate ticket.

don't know I have never gotten one, only they know how much money they make out of those tickets,

Its FOOLISH to require a front plate, many states don't require it.

When I bought my new Camaro in Antioch, IL. I told them not to

put the front plate holder on. Some dealers won't do that, I have been

told IL law requires all IL. dealers to mount the front holder. But mine

didn't. I just keep the parts in the trunk if I get pulled over. I don't

WORRY anymore about being pulled over, I DON'T DRINK POISON anymore.

Fellow Illini Camaro Owners:

This is intended as an apolitical request for support of some legislation that has been presented in the Illinois Legislature. Representative Jerry L. Mitchell of Rock Falls, Illinois; has presented HB 4888 in the 96th General Assembly.

Now, why you ask would I mention this piece of legislation? Well, many auto enthusiasts have voiced their displeasure with having a front license plate on their autos. Which happens to include many members of our club. The argument consistently bandied about by state officials, including Jesse White – Secretary of State, is that elimination of front license plates is a hinderance to Law Enforcement efforts.

Many states, do not require Front License Plates on Motor Vehicles. In addition, this would also reduce the costs to the Vehicle owner and the State of Illinois by reducing the number of plates produced for each vehicle registration.

Regardless of your political affiliation or stance, this is something of great interest to the Auto Enthusiast Hobby. If you are in favour of this change in the Illinois Motor Vehicle Code, I urge you to contact you respective State Legislator to voice your support.

Here is a brief synopsis of Representative Mitchell’s proposed bill:

"Amends the Illinois Vehicle Code. Provides that, beginning with the next registration year after the effective date of this amendatory Act in which the Secretary of State distributes newly designed standard registration plates for motor vehicles, the Secretary of State shall issue one registration plate (instead of 2) for newly registered motor vehicles and the registration plate shall be attached to the rear (instead of front and rear) of the motor vehicle. "
