I'd wager a hefty sum the ZL1 1LE will be unbeaten by the GT500 no matter how hard they try, heck the regular ZL1 might stave it off as well. On top of that, the GT500 may end up only being marginally faster in a straight line anyways. Starting to not look good for the GT500 if it gets hard to get...You can buy any ZL1 you want right now for good prices.
Yeah, but you won't have fanboy bragging rights owning the very early first released 6 figure add 500 that underperforms against GM you can get in the $60's. It's all about the bizarre bragging rights with Ford & their buyers. I can't tell you how nice it was to tell that pompous Ford salesman I went with a ZL1...thank God he stood ground on the AdM as I didn't know about the upcoming Z when looking for an R!! Seriously, I was looked at like I was an idiot for not wanting it to the point of ADM?? Asinine.

Don't get me wrong, I am a car guy love all brands...this is a dig at the Ford dealers & not the vehicle. Sorry, the 500 is no way gonna be worth anything over sticker & those who succumb simply ruin the market. I have no doubt it is a freaking outstanding set of wheels but not for anything over sticker without the Flux capacitor.

No thank you to the ADM i sure will be present on this car for some time to come, and no thank you to a car that has not really been transformed from its predecessor......at least not enough of a change for a 90k+ loan
I am impressed with the Voodoo boosted HP capability, but I am concerned about their oil consumption issues.

I’m watching the new 500 as well. I’m eager to see what it will do performance wise.

Hopefully the MSRP is not some ridiculously high number since the ADM is going to be previlernt.

If the GT500 isn't superior to the ZL1/LE in every way, it would be a fail. Given that they've had ample time to use the ZL as a benchmark, I don't see how they can't at least match the performance numbers. If it truly does generate as much down force as they claim, it should stick to the track like glue. I expect some amazing numbers.

Manufacturer speed limiting.

Since it came up on an FB page, I'm curious the thoughts here. The new GT500 is manufacturer limited to 180 mph. Everyone here ok with manufacturers doing this? Is that speed acceptable if so? Obviously it's far more than necessary on the street, but what about for the track? Anyone in here hitting 180+ mph, in stock trim (including tires), on any track?

I’m completely against speed limiters. At least on my cars.

To me it's not nearly as much as the top speed...but how quick you get there. How many members here have exceeded 180? ...And how many have tried to get their best 0-60 or 1/4 times?

I’d be willing to bet a lot of money Ford dealers will demand, and get, over $100K (MSRP+ADM) for these cars. With the number of Mustang fanboys out there it will easily be a $75K MSRP and they won’t give a damn about whether or not it’ll run with a ZL1 or Hellcat (fugadabout a Demon).

The 500 will be a performance letdown for most enthusiasts but with the f#@&ton of hype and assgrab games that Ford has played over the years, that f-er will sell like hot cakes.

I’ll just laugh at the saps willing to give a dealer $20K+ for an over priced (and annoying IMHO) exhaust note.

2020 is an emission and auto safety regulation year. Although I am surprised by Fords decision to limit top speed on the new GT500, the legal team in Dearborn, likely have a greater say in this matter than the engineers. Even more likely the EPA and the US Office of the Inspector General have a LOT to do with this decision because of the impending 2020 regs.

Get your ICE Performance cars while you can boys and girls. As I believe that the performance renaissance that we are living in now, is soon to become a thing of the past. Safety limitations are coming to EV as well.

While I am on a rant. When we pay the gas guzzler tax, are we not as citizens entitled to all of the benefits thereto?

Don't forget to vote ladies and gentlemen... Liberty is one heck of a freedom to lose and is being chipped away at an ever increasing rate.

Sorry to thread drift a little here folks...

I wanted the GT350R in a big way a few years ago. So i called a dealer up and he had no embarrassment telling me he wanted 20K over MSRP. I asked him if he was serious while chuckling to myself......this is one of the reasons I’m here. Pulling this kind of crap by a dealership should be banned my the Mother Corp.

I was able to exceed 180 on public roads legally! Driving my bolt on modified 02 Corvette Z51 while passing a Mercedes AMG (not racing) on the autobahn in Germany (Munich to Berchtesgaden) 183mph. Scared me to death
