Rocker arm wear?
Any idea what this wear/discoloration is on my rocker arms? 3 out of the 8 have it. Just wondering if I I should be concerned?

I wouldn't worry. Have you changed your valve springs? You can also remove the trunnion bearings in the rocker arms and look for damage.

ah ok. The rocker arm is essentially a structural beam with the trunnion bearing assembly acting as a fulcrum. All of the shear stress during rocker arms movements are the areas surrounding the bearing. If the arm gets mildly stressed, it could heat up and cause the finish to deteriorate. Overall I wouldn't worry. If you are worried take a look at the rods (check for straightness), and look at the bearings.
Also, some aftermarket springs need to be replaced every 25,000 miles.

I wouldn't worry. One of mine had the exact same spot. So now I'm thinking it's nothing to worry about. If multiple engines are showing it, it's a factory flaw. But since it is not effecting its functionality I'd call it cosmetic flaws.

I always thought they were just paint markings from the manufacture that just etched in over time. I see those markings regularly.

Come to think about it, I have even seen these markings on my "old school" 327's rockers.
