Transmission Cooler Install- How I did Mine

With the help of other members suggestions in another thread, I finally got my cooler installed. First, due to some fabrications of the front crash bar for clearance issues, this may not be for everyone.

The cooler I selected was the Derale remote mount 25 plate with an auxiliary fan for cooling without forced air. I mounted the top to the crash bar with the majority of the cooler extending downward and bottom mounting to the lower brace.

I had to cut vs removing the lower air deflector to allow for fan clearance as well.

I bought an extra set of cooler lines for $25 and cut them to accept hardline to AN fittings.

The below pic show original and new supply lines in dark/light red arrows respecfully, and return lines in dark/light blue arrows. This set up completely bypasses the in-radiator cooler, but could be easily converted to a series setup.

The rest is just basic plumbing and wiring. The cooler sits low and centered and should allow for good airflow to condenser/radiator.

Thanks for other members help and suggestions and hopefully this will give others inspiration or ideas.
Now to see how well the cooler works!

The arrows in the diagram seem a little misleading... Showing cold in (blue), hot out
(red) at the lower rad cooler.

You want HOT in from the transmission, to the lower rad cooler.
Rad cooler out, to the aux cooler.
Aux cooler out, back to transmission.
2-stage cooling.

Your arrows looks like you're going through the cooler first, then to the rad.
You don't want that, if that is the case. You're just sending the aux cooler fluid
back to the rad to be raised to engine coolant temperature.

If you want RAD to AUX, then AUX to TRANS, then cool, but the arrows
in the diagram don't show that, specifically.

Aux coolers are the best thing you can add for longevity. I added a medium duty
cooler to a former 2000 Avenger ES a week after purchase, and went 153,000 miles,
and even towed a boat for a season. The A904 was notorious for heat caused
failures, and to go 153,000 on one was fantastic. IT still ran at trade in, and I saw
it on the road for at least a year afterwards.
