Subwoofer Advice

I have been using a JL 10TW3 sub in a sub***p box powered by a JL XD600 for a couple of years. I have been trying to like it, but it just hasn’t been right. So with a little research my box is listed as 1.2 cu.ft. sealed box and the 10TW according to JL is best in a .5 cu.ft. sealed box. So the muddled sound is a result of the space in the box.

I want a full size woofer now. I am looking a four options. JL 10W7, JL 10W6, Focal E 25 KX, Morel Ultimo Titanium 102.

Pros and cons for each. The 10W7 is the biggest, it is best in a sealed box 1.25cu.ft., so my box is .05 too small and .1 too small if you account for driver displacement. All of the other speakers like a smaller box, and I can make the box smaller.

Hoping to get some feedback on experience with any of these speakers. Advice on a box being too small versus too big for other speakers.

You can stuff the box with fiberfill and see if it helps what you got...

Adding polyfill will be just fine. That small missing air space amount will hardly affect it. had you halved the space you would have affected it greatly.

Any heat concerns from stuffing?

Looking like votes for the 10w7; anyone use the Focal or the Morel subs?

Morel subs are nice BUT they are SQ subs not SPL subs. They will play well with proper tuning, adjustment and all.

Poly will only create heat if you overdrive the sub and put way too much. you honestly could get by with maybe a handful or two in there. you really wont notice any issues with .05cu ft. missing. I ran subs in a bot 1/3 too small with a bit of poly fill and was fine.

I have 2 morel 10s in a sealed box that i took out for trunk baffle (trunk is the box) and while the volume is a bit lower, the SQ is superb. im looking to upgrade the subs. Ill probably stay Trunk Baffle.

I apparently have it backwards. Poly fill helps when your box is too small. My mistake.

TRue but in a box a bit too big can help by just slowing the wave. Not needed though.

Installed! About 1/2 pound of polyfil. 1000w amp that I have the gain set for 700w at 3ohms.

The 10w7 sounds awesome. Need to dial in my DSP to account for the new sub. Completes the system.

nice, how does the 10w7 sound? doesn't sound like a 10" does it? so for the 3ohms is it wired like a parallel dual coil or is it just a single coil?
I have a friend that has the focal e25 and he loves it but I am not a fan. I guess it depends how u like ur bass, I like a low deep bass and what I heard coming out wasn't that.....sounds more like a low tuned mid.
