Fighting a speeding ticket in California

Got cited today under VC 22350 for unsafe speed in Milpitas, CA. 66 in 45 . How bad is this gonna be for my pocket and my insurance? Is there any point in trying to fight it? This is the first moving violation I've had on my CA license; afraid it's gonna hurt my insurance premium. Any advice??

Dude... how long have you been in CA?
You should know that you can’t really fight this, at 20 over the limit, it’s going to be expensive, around $300. You will get a notice in the mail with the fine amount and info on taking a safe driving course online, complete the course and the points are never applied to your record and insurance never knows. And remember, you’re never really saving any time when you’re speeding from light to light. In CA, speed kills. Your wallet!

Get the app “off the record”. You just send a picture of your ticket to them and they set you up with a lawyer to fight it. It’s pretty affordable and I’ve heard good things about them

Do not take defensive driving.. the ticket will still be on your record.

Instead take deferred adjudication, and as long as you do not get a ticket within a specified amount of days the ticket will NEVER go on your record and your insurance company will not know about it.

The secret is to never speed on the public roads. That way you can stay calm when passing near a police car.

Cruise control helps a lot.

If it's your first ticket, and it being 20 over, you'd probably benefit from a lawyer in the fees and insurance costs over time. If you intend to drive like that again, just pay it and go on.

Good thing you weren’t in Virginia - They can put you in jail for 20 over. Absolutely the most backward state that I have ever travelled through!!!

I think it is a good idea. That way people will respect the speed limit.

People are so dumb that we are at the point where we have to put them in jail for that unfortunately.

Jail - For your first offense over 20 seriously? I can understand suspending someones license. But being sentenced to jail with criminals for speeding is extremely excessive.

Half of the drivers in Miami would be in jail - LOL!

Increasing fines doesn't seem to work, what would make people follow the speed limits? Seems like this works... A bit extreme but if that's what it takes...
