Anything special to changing brake pads on 2SS?

In the past I have run across cars that need a special tool or method to change the brake pads. I was just wondering if there was anything like that with this car. It's a 2SS, and it needs front and rear pads.

Thanks for any help you can provide.

Nope. An ice pick to push out the pins. If you do a search, you will see a bit on info on this. I think I even posted pages out of the Service manual somewhere

very easy to do!

Just a pin punch to tap out the pins.

A tip: Remove a little brake fluid from the reservoir before swapping the pads. Its easy to overflow the reservoir when you put pressure on the pistons while sliding the new pads in. Then top it off when done.

If you didn't refill the MC resorvoir as the pads wore down then the fluid level will return to full upon pushing the pistons back in.

If possible though - I would prefer to open a bleeder and get the fluid that was in the caliper out and replace/flush bleed.

Don't open it if you can't bleed brakes though.

Don't open the calipers? I opened the calipers and pulled the pads out... is there another way. It was a little tricky putting the calipers back together. Of course this is my first change.

Not the Calipers, the bleeder screw. If you open the bleeder screw it makes pushing the pistons back into the caliper easier. However, If you are not prepared to bleed the brakes on the car don't open the bleeder screw.

How many miles did you get on your pads?

mileage

Right at 20K, to make it better the auto parts store ordered the wrong pads. So I have to start over tonight.

Removing the pads is as easy as everyone said, punch the pins out compress pistons, reinstall new pads. I used a block of wood against the face of the caliper (to avoid scratching the caliper) with c-clamp vice grips on the outer edge of the pad to compress the pistons. The pistons moved alot easier than any I have ever compressed. I suppose since it is 2 smaller pistons on each side as oppose to one large piston the resistance is much less.
