I sold the car back in Feb with 3000 miles and the MPGs were still in the 7 to 9 MPG range. I loved the car but I just couldn't handle the ridiculous high cost(s) of owning the car. (And I use to think owning my first BMW was expensive.)

Damn that sucks. I agree with you there on the BMW. I had a 750LI for a short period and the gas was equally horrible not to mention the maintenance on a 7 series.
I guess you pay to play. I just didn't think it was that bad compared to my SS which is also a 6.2L V8 Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

Words in life to live by. I decided to stop pouring my $$$ down the drain from my Z and begin to fill my financial pool status instead. My Mini Cooper isn't as fancy as my Z was and it obviously has nowhere near the same HP. I'm okay with that.

My 14 has 8700 miles on it, it was averaging 14 mpg when I was driving it easy. Sometimes I would reset the mpg and it would settle down at around 18mpg but the moment I got on it, it would fall anywhere from 9-12. I just had some minor upgrades done to it on 5/28 last week, id850 injectors, and upper pulley and a dyno tune. I am seeing anywhere from 5 - 13 now . engine light came on today, so something is wrong with the tune. But I do not really expect much better mileage. Sad too since Ford can get 662 Hp out of a 5.8L and get much better mileage. augh.

I may just have to give it some time. Its gotten up to 12MPG from 8MPG when I picked it up. I am taking it to the dealer tomorrow for some warranty issues and get the oil changed and checked on a few other things. I have this slight feeling it was neglected by the previous owner so I would feel safer to get everything checked and changed.
Thanks everyone for your replies. I feel slightly better now that everyone has higher numbers ....lol

I average 13 mpg around town and can squeeze 20-21 mpg on the hwy. Definitely deserves the gas guzzler tax.

ZL1 2014, Manual... I drive it pretty mixed... But mostly pretty baby-ish in city.
City: 15 Highway: 17 Both values are from a weeks measure. I am impressed by the fuel average, as my old Durango that I had was more like 11 in city, and 14 on highway.

2013 M6 9200 miles. 13.5 mpg. But. I find myself too often driving around in too low a gear. Driving around at 3000rpm can't be good for mpg. That might be the reason for the prompt to shift from 1st to 4th (?).
I'm going to try to pay more attention to shifting earlier and more often to see if that doesn't make a difference. Last edited by TheSilverBullet; 06-01-2014 at 10:28 PM. |

I average 15 - 16.
Per the June Consumer Reports issue: 55 to 65 MPH - lose 4 - 8 mpg 65 to 75 MPH - lose an additional 5 - 7 mpg I don't think I ever go less than 75 on the open highway.... |
