Texas Mile is March 25-27

Hello everyone. I'm the race director for the Texas Mile. If you have any questions please let me know here or email me at ryan@texasmile.net I'm on alot of forums so if I don't respond to a post here then the best bet is to email me. I hope to see some of you out there in March.

How does this work? Do anyone just show up? Specifically, can anyone just show up if you're a spectator?

I haven't been to the Texas Mile before and want to go this year!

After last Octobers event, the Texas Mile directors put out a poll to the people that ran in the event asking if they would like a 3rd date in the schedule. They did this because since 2003 when the event got its start, there have been more and more people signing up and running the Mile. A year ago, the registration opened and it took about two weeks for the slots to fill up, last October, it took 14 hours to fill up, the competitor list for this upcoming event filled up in 4.5 hours. The event in May will be the first time it has been run in a month other than March or October, do me a favor, if you're even remotely interested in running in the mile or if you even just like fast cars, be a spectator at this March event to get a feel for what the event is about. I guarantee that when the registration for the May event comes up, you'll be punchin' the refresh button on the registration page for the Texas Mile. Or, you'll be chomping at the bit to go back and see the kind of cars, motorcycles, and land speed racers that run that mile. It really is a great time to be had, very inexpensive for a race weekend, and if nothing else does, it gets you outta the house I've gone to the last two, spectator at the first one, ran my car in the second, and I'm truly hooked on this event. They've added food vendors, race gas vendor, and a slew of other stuff. The media outlets are starting to pick up on how popular this is, auto mags are printing stories, SPEED TV did two episodes, and of course local and state papers are gettin their two columns worth of the event. I can't imagine this getting bigger, but in reality, I can't see how it can't get bigger. When you have people from other countries bringing their cars to run the mile, that pretty much tells ya how big this has gotten.

well if its hot bring a umbrella with a stand as they put everyone on the black top instead of the grass, the sun beating off the black top is hot as hell lol, but hell the people that run this are sitting in a nice a/c motor home so what do they care.

My first event of this was last year and it suck because of this, I hope they have better parking and better seating for everyone.

they also need a better time mph sign as it worked when it wanted to

again all i've heard about this event was good stuff, but my first experience wasn't fun at all, hike in over a half mile carrying chair, cooler, umbrella and then your placed on the black top and cant tell what people run as the sign didn't work ok rant over lol

I plan to go back in March to watch hope its better then last october.
