Key fob reprogramable?
I did some searching, but couldn't find the answer I'm looking for... When Chevy came up with this whole setup, did they do it like the GTO (which was dumb, btw), and make the keys so that they can only be programmed once?
I made the mistake of bidding on a used 2010 camaro key/fob on ebay today, and I'm hoping it can be reused, (much like the subaru I last had), but if not I guess I'll live... I guess there's a reason it went so cheap. I bid before doing my research ... So I guess even if the keys can't be reprogrammed, it's ok because you can replace the battery, unlike the GTO. So my last question is, like the GTO, will the Camaro BCM only accept so many keys, like the GTO (5), and then you'll have to replace the BCM, Locks, etc; or does it "drop" the oldest key in favor of the newest key. |

How many keys do you need?! Every car I've ever had has had two keys, and one of them in each set is still brand new. Do you have a habit of loosing them?

yes it can be reprogrammed .my brother in law is a locksmith he made one for a guy who lost his keys . he says most dealers cant even cut that key . due to the high cost of the laser program and cutter but it can be done

just ordered a second key at the local dealer, bought the car used and only had one key. when it comes in it will be 53 dollars, has to be laser cut then sent to the dealership. once you have it your supposed to be able to insert your regular key in to the ingnition and put it on the on position then take it out and insert the new key and turn to the on position and the car will "learn" new key/fob. if that doesn't work(anticipating it will) then it's like 45 dollars for a tech to program it.

Just got a new key for my car (bought used, came with only 1). Programmed like explained above. The dealer wants $50 to turn 2 keys?

Yea it's totally absurd how much they charge for some mysterious program. I messed up one of my keys trying a mod on it and learned how easy it was to program from the supplier who, btw, only charged me 27 bucks for each key already laser cut for my car.
