Is conventional Wax about to be phased out?

With the popularity of Ceramics are we about to see the end of conventional wax?

I think so.the new products are easier and faster to use.

No I don't believe so, I think that we will always offer wax & sealants.
A lot of guys still enjoy waxing their cars. That being said the newer Ceramic will out last wax & sealant many time over.

I will always use Carnauba Wax on my vehicles. It could mean that other products may be squeezed out of the market, but the proven quality products will continue to have a following.

I don't think Carnauba Wax will ever completely end.
While it's protection and durability pale in comparison to modern SI02 products, the deep warm look it creates is still a favorite amongst many people, and no SIO2 product can give the same look.
So it will still be a fan of people with show cars/garage queens, and others who don't mind putting it on their daily drivers every month or two.

For me though, the protection, durability, and ease of cleaning aspects of SIO2 are so much more beneficial than the nice warm look.
So I'll save my Pinnacle Souveran and Victoria Concours wax for people who want it on cars I detail for them.

I just bought a used 2013 Red Camaro that needs some work on the exterior. My detailer quoted me at $1500 to do all the prep (wash, clay, polish, etc.) and then apply a quality ceramic. Then he said hand-wash only. That sounds too high when you compare to the $500 he wants to charge me for wash, clay, polish, and wax/seal.

I am thinking of having him do the wash, clay, polish and seal and then apply the ceramic coating myself. (Or see if he will use a ceramic coating I provide)

Next question is which ceramic to use.

Thoughts?

I bet that’s going to be the case with me this summer! I’m reading so many favorable reviews on ceramics that although I used to enjoy a free day waxing my car, the benefits of ceramics makes it seem like the best way to go.

If anything concerning detailing is about to be "phased out", it would be conventional detailing clay.

Modern alternatives make the process easier and much less time consuming.

I read the attachment for the PRO vs. DIY application of a coating, and there are a lot of inaccurate statements. You can tell the person who wrote this article has never applied a ceramic coating before.

I haven't done a ton of them, only a dozen, but the newer coatings are so much easier to use versus the older ones.
The newer spray on SI02 products also provide the same ease of cleaning aspect, they just don't have the durability of a true coating, so need application more often.

$3000 for paint correction and a coating? I could buy every Rupes polishing machine needed for every area of the car, all the pads, compounds/polishes, and a high quality coating for less than 1/2 of that.
