L99 cam with stock lifters

https://youtu.be/vyhklcPglWs
From what I've read this is a bad idea.
Just wanted to see what others think.

Yeah, I sure wouldn't put a cam in with the stock AFM lifters. Not only is there that lifter issue.... but one advantage of a cam is now you can rev higher. L99's have heavy stock intake valves. Not a great idea to be revving heavy intake valves higher than the stock limit.

I think it would be much better to just do a VVT cam (non AFM), get new lifters, LS3 intake valves, and springs to match the cam.

The GPI vvt cam package doesn't include valves, so that would be another expense I wasn't thinking of.

Its my understanding you do not have to replace the intake valves. Im having the gpi vvt 3 kit installed next week and the only part outside of the kit provided that im having put on is a fluidampr balancer. Maybe GPI or someone more experienced than me can confirm this. I guess it could also depend on your mileage im at 33k.

I have a L99 and I wouldn't replace the cam without replacing the valve train parts. I'm in the process of getting the top half rebuilt to get rid of the crap L99 lifters.
