Hardwire 12Volt Socket

One of the most annoying things for me is the 12volt sockets turning off when you turn off your car. Now I can't charge my mp3 player or my phone when my car isn't physically turned on.

Does anyone know how to hardwire the socket in the console?

Thanks,
Jim

I thought the 12v socket in the center compartment was hot all the time. In most cars it is that way. Haven't checked it on the Camaro yet.

NOPE, BOTH go off when you turn the key off.

Possible solution. The two Power Outlets are controlled by F17 &18 in the Instrument fuse panel. You could buy a "Fuse Tap" and replace one of the fuses that are always energized (possibly F23, battery or a spare). Then you could make a short jumper to go from the fuse tap to the "load side " of F17 or 18. You would have to put a "inline fuse" in the jumper.
