A Rust Question
Is it typical to have rust on the headers on a vehicle that is brand new?

No. If your dealer let it sit out side or was test driven where it was muddy that could happen. Or, if you bought it used someone could have reverted back to stock headers and bought some old rusted ones.

This is a brand new 2014 SS that was manufactured in 9/13 and I bought in Dec. So only sitting out at shipping yard and dealer lot. Any negative things down the road from this, or should be fine?
Thx |

Actually them are exhaust manifolds, and are cast iron which will rust when exposed to elements, even under the hood or in a non climate controlled garage
Nothing negative other than they look bad Could have them ceramic coated I guess some may call them factory headers, but to me a header is made of steel tubing,or stainless Although sanderson does make a cast iron header and hooker does also Replace with long tube headers when warentee is up,and enjoy some more power

The cast iron manifolds are not coated and start to rust before they are even installed. I'm going to assume dafisch didn't see the pic and is assuming you have aftermarket headers. This is completely normal.

If I wanted to replace them now, what would be a good brand/option to go with?
And if I did replace no, warranty would still be ok? |

There is nothing to warrant a warranty claim. They are cast and will rust on the outside. They are EXTREMELY thick, hence the reason they weigh so much. It would take decades for them to rust through. You can do shorty's that don't require a tune but also add little to no performance gains or long tube headers that should be tuned to get the most from them. As long as you get 304SS, they won't rust. There are lots of headers for this car. It's just a question of how much you want to spend.

As mentioned, those are factory "cast iron" exhaust manifolds.
Yes, they will rust as soon as they get wet. There really is no harm being done to them though, other than it might look bad. It would take 30 years for them to rust all the way through. LOL As far as rust goes, they will out last any aftermarket exhaust system you will ever put on.

A Rust Question
You don't have headers, you have a exhaust manifolds. And this is 100% normal, nothing to worry about as other have mentioned.

normal....any amount of moisture or humidity in the air will cause cast iron to rust...
