and we are taxed more than usa ... for everything.
these high energy rates, actually help keep our taxes down here. but we pay more for gas.
i dont drive far to work, so im sorta unaffected by fuel costs. im under 5 miles one way.
a tank lasts me 2 weeks in the car.

Gasoline prices in Greater Toronto Area today are around:
87-octane = $1.314 Cdn/L is about $5.10 US per US Gallon
91-octane = $1.464 Cdn/L is about $5.68 US per US Gallon

Anyone worried yet ?
What is to come this summer.

NYMEX wholesale trading of gasoline shows futures for March to April jumping $0.17 US per Gallon (4.5-cents Cdn/L).

PS in the Greater Toronto Area: I would suggest for everyone to gas-up their gasoline tank on Wednesday, Feb 29th.
I have a feeling that March 1st pricing in the morning will not be pleasant.

This is such BS! I'm already contemplating pedaling my bike to work a couple times a week come summer time to offset these ridiculous gas prices (especially here in Ontario).

Why isn't anyone stepping in to prevent all these gas hikes? This can make or break some families.

U.S. and Canada can drill all they want and stop importing but it won't do a damn thing for the price of gas. It's OPEC that f-ing us and the U.S. is part of OPEC. The oil companies of the US and Canada arn't going to sell their barrels for $68 when the middle east is selling theirs for $110. The price of crude is now based on speculation rather than supply and demand. They cut production to keep things tight, use political issues to jack up prices. Face it...they tasted wild profit margins in 2008 and they arn't going back. Another issue with domestic gas production is outdated rifineries in the US. There was a stroy the other day stating that gas is so high in the north east because they are closing a bunch of refineries there. Those refineries can only process the high quality Brent crude from the middle east which costs considerably more money than the dirty heavy crude from Texas and Canada. So even though demand for oil is at a 15 year low in N. America, these NE refineries are going broke on selling their gas due to the difference of price between Brent crude and Intermediate N. American crude. The price of crude is the problem and its an OPEC and world-market problem that is also tied to low investor confidence in the euro and American dollar. It sucks and will be hard to turn around by any other means other than government interference with the market or capitolism...which is a scary proposition when government starts trying to control the price of commodities.

The price of gasoline in the Greater Toronto Area is expected to drop 2.7-cents/L for tomorrow.

But it will eventually go up with the wholesale futures showing it going up $0.20 US per US Gallon in April's future contracts.
That is like a 5-cent/L increase.
