Subs not up to par..

So I finally got my system in yesterday and the speakers sound amazing but my sub isn't anywhere near as loud as I had hoped. My mids and highs some what drown out the bass. I was wondering is it because I'm still using the factory radio? The system is an Fi Q 15" in a 4 cubic foot box tuned to 32hz off an Audison LRX 1.400 and Focal K2 comps off an Audison LRX 4.300. Thanks in advance guys!

Yes, your factory head unit is the weakest link in your system.

I have a similar issue using the factory head unit and the FARK. With the sub signal coming from the rear channels their is less bass to be had by the time you decrease bass to avoid distortion in the other speakers at higher volume. Without a separate RCA out for bass from the head it makes tuning a bit more difficult.

I've been working so much I haven't had time to properly tune my system. Your amps should have crossovers that will allow for more bass to the subs while sending less to the others. I hope to get some tuning in tomorrow before going back to work.

BTW, I also have the K2 Focals. They sound awesome. Where did you put your tweets?

I didn't see any way to fit a 2" tweeter in there. I put mine in the door panels, on the left side I put mine about where the mirror button was and moved the mirror control further up the door panel then put the other in the same spot on the other side. I'm hoping I can still tune the soundstate up some. The tweets aim toward the rear more this way.

I'd try going back into your amps and properly tuning them before dropping money into a head unit. Somethings not right and your HU isnt it.

Previously was using factory head unit with a 10" MTX Sub - 500 Watt amp...Sounded o-k i thought...Installed recently Kenwood Multimedia Unit huge difference...The MTX amp has bass control knob...that makes a huge difference also...Something gotta be off with your set up...

It's not in the amps. Here is the issue why you need a head unit vs factory. The Signal to noise ratio (s/n) for the stock does not match up to the s/n of the amps. Therefore you will not get the bass output possible. You can turn up the gain on the amp and what will happen is the s/n won't match up and you will blow up your subs.

even if your h/u doesn't put out adequate voltage, you can always compensate further down the electrical chain w/ signal processors/balanced line drivers, etc...but it sure helps to have a high, clean signal at the get go..and so long as you set your amp gains(levels) properly w/ your h/u volume, you shouldn't damage your speakers.
