So how do you guys like...
Your microfiber steering wheel and shift knobs? How are they holding up and how are they to clean and maintain?

I like the feel.... it does "smooth out" some over time. To keep mine clean I use an interior detailer on terry cloth to wipe it down and raise the nap some.

Is the idea behind this to offer more grip than traditional leather?

I love it. Mind you I love the whole car. lol
Each person that gets in my car always has to reach over and touch the shifter knob which usually leads to laughter when they say they like touching it. I havent had the car long enough to see what wears and it will be interesting to see if GM will warranty the nap if it wears out. |

Love them both, best feeling shifter and wheels ever owned!!
I would have to say that the shifter for sure is just awesome, love the size feel and how precise shifting is! |

Some of the most expensive and finest handling focused cars in the world come with microfiber on the steering wheel and shifter... Porsche's GT3 comes to mind first.
The biggest advantage over hard leather wrap is more grip with less effort while controlling the car at speed on tracks, autocrosses or mountain roads. These microfiber surfaces will also feel cooler in summer heat and warmer in winter cold. I also think these synthetic materials will wear well and they look great, giving the driver a sense that Chevy's engineers were serious about a Camaro with the 1LE package being a world class handling muscle car. And that is why I want one. In the last Car and Driver Lightning Lap test at VIR, the only car in the test that went faster through the uphill esses section was the...wait for it...Ferrari 458 Italia. Well done, Chevrolet. |

So far it is great...only time will tell how well it will hold up over the long haul.

To me, at first, I think the softness was maybe making me grip the wheel less tightly than I would normally. The wheel sorta slipped in my hands on a curve I know well, kinda scared me for a second and definitely caused me to think about grip a lot. But now, 1400 miles later, I don't think about it at all anymore. As far as wear and tear, we'll see.

Love the feel of both. And as noted, it's not going to cook your hands in the summer.

At first I was meh about it, but now I think it is one of my favorite parts of the whole car. I keep hand sanitizer in the car to make sure I'm always clean handed. I do wonder about it wearing over time, I would assume GM will warranty wear spots, they do on leather wheels, assuming there's not a 6 month backorder on the knob or wheel by then.

I love the microfiber. The feel is comfortable, and the microfiber gives me increased grip on the wheel and the shifter. During the winter, the wheel didn't have the ice cold feel when I first got into the car.
The material has tried to flatten out, but a little rubbing with water on a terrycloth hand towel fluffs it right back.

I love it as well. Mine has smoothed, but it did that almost immediately. My '01 WS6 Vert had the Hurst Leather, I would take the microfiber any day. I have 13K miles and still is as new.
