Okay, helpful suggestion:

1) The metal key portion is still a metal key. It should open the doors and start the car because the "chipped" portion of the key is just a resistor, if its anything like previous Passlock/passkey systems. Everything else electronic should be only for remote capability.

2) Buy a new battery. Once the fob is dried out (rice could potentially work to absorb any excess moisture/condensation, put in the new battery and give it a whirl. Do not use WD40, as not only will it goo everything up, but could create a short in the fob. Yes, it does remove water, but is really meant for doing so with mechanical parts, not electronics.

Before you use the rice use canned compressed computer air dust cleaner stuff, its safe for electronics and will blow out the majority of moisture, then rice overnight, should be firne after that with a new battery.

I thought they called it a fob was because it was like a watch fob. I never knew it was an acronym.

WD40 has much lower conductivity than water, I said after they tried the rice method, not before. geez. And I did say to clean off what they could...

I think the acronymn is bogus

It's a plain old simple fob, like a watch fob.

FOB is a word. Not an acronym in this case.

In my world FOB means "Friend of Bob", who is the owner. Anyone who is a FOB must be taken care of. We all hate FOBs.
