non ss

for anyone that did not buy a ss was it because you HAD TO HAVE A CAMARO and did not care that it came with just the basics

No, didn't need another V8 and is a daily driver so mileage WAS a consideration.

Now, I have an SS so I'm not really going to have any input in this discussion other than what I'm about to say.

Anyone who drives an SS, this is directed towards you: Play nice, if any V6 bashing starts up I will go out of my way to PM a mod about locking this thread. Everyone is entitled to their own opinions, choices, and purchases. Not everything is a pissing contest, and more importantly their is a V6 that runs consistently in the mid 10s. So just because you have a V8 doesn't mean your faster.

I've got a thing about green and couldn't pass up a car that looks as good as the Camaro in green. To top it off, I read about the new DI VVT engine and thought it would be fun to mess with. I've had a blast so far and have learned a lot.

NOPE....the ONLY thing that didn't come on the Camaro was the V8.....I have a 2LT/RS. I bought a RS for one simple reason.....my first camaro was also my very first new car, a 1976 RS.....1976 was only 2 years since that the Z28 wasn't offered since they started making them.....and they didn't make SS's that year either.....SO, I got the RS opption on my car.....and SOOOOOO I bought a RS to relive a little bit of the past. not to mention.....its got plently of GET UP AND GO.

I didnt really care to have the RS package (other then the headlights) and really considered a 1SS but talked myself out of it. I have a lead foot so I knew I would get in some serious trouble with it. Plus my b/f is a deputy, wouldn't look too good if his g/f kept getting pulled over Besides if I really wanted to drive a v8, I could always drive my b/f's charger. I'm very happy with my LT, she does everything I need.

I have an ss, but kind of wish I got the v6 (that probably sounds weird huh). I would like to get better gas mileage and it would make winter tires easier to find. On top of that it would have been 10k cheaper for a similar optioned car.

On a side note, I had an 11 second mustang before the ss, so I don't get that excited by the performance. I just wanted a cool dd.

*I think I'm getting old (I turn 30 in a few months...)

I would of liked a v8, but I really liked all of the add ons. So I got a 2lt with RS, Sunroof, Inferno Orange interior and all of the perks of the 2LT with the HUD and other stuff. I just really didn't want to pay another 8-9k for the SS when I can get great gas mileage and it still packs a pretty good punch compared to other cars out there.

My decision to get the v6 is in my opinion, is getting the best deal for what I can realistically afford. When I purchased my Camaro in May of 2010, I just got done paying off two cars. I handed down my old daily driver to my daughter who just got her license. I'm not into it to race, or mod the heck out of it. I did make some changes to it, but again only within what I can afford. I'm a new Camaro owner, never owned one before and proud to be an owner now. I love what y'all do to your own Camaros, whether they are SS or not. I enjoy watching what y'all do and have learned so much. So yes, I love my V6 LS Camaro! I get the same compliments, looks, smiles, etc as those who own an SS.
