Do you think that cutout helped much?

You mean it makes about 2 psi less boost with it open? Or you mean it is easier to make boost pressure with the cutout open? Just trying to understand the dynamics. (I know boost pressure does not directly equate to hp). I sold my 3" cutouts because I thought it might interfere with my tune - now I wonder if I should have kept at least one!

10psi wastegate spring
Cutout open makes 10psi
Cutout closed makes ~8psi
Through a dual 2.5" magnaflow exhaust

Makes 14+ psi easy with cutout open, closed struggles to make more than 11psi

The less the exhaust restriction the better on a turbo car

OK! Thanks for the explanation.

At the dyno last weekend, the shop worker told me they usually pick up ~50rwhp at the same boost level by opening a cutout on a single 3" dp.

Typically 30 to 50 whp depending on the setup.

I just read through this entire thread and saw a lot of inexperience with turbo setups. Seems a lot guys on here have never been around turbos...but that's ok. I am seriously considering this kit for my 1LE. It's nearly half of the price of some kits and seems to be a high quality unit. Just need some fuel components, tie up loose ends to make it all work together, and get it tuned. Coming from an EVO IX I'm very familiar with turbo setups so I'm excited to get my hands on one of these kits. I'll most likely just do a pump gas setup and shoot for mid to high 500's. There is nothing like boost from a turbo!

So true. It's an amazing feeling getting your spine pinned to the back of the seat. The biggest thing I learned about turbos is heat control for all surrounding components. There are a lot of success stories with this kit and I have 15K miles on mine and no issues and drive it every day. You should get mid to high 500s on moderate boost. Just a walk in the park with a good tuner though.

Dyno graph of 7 cylinders on boost versus one of my heads/cam pulls.
