Z storage
I've posted a forum on this before but couldn't find it.. so I'm storing my Z for about 6 months or so. Besides a tender.. and a car cover .. is there anything else I should do to my car? Is there anything I should put into the gas...etc
Thank you all in advance! |

You should be good. You can put Stabil gas stabilizer in your tank (or seafoam), but I've been just fine with a tender, clean paint and a cover.

Depending on where you're storing the car (your own garage or a storage locker) you might want to consider putting a jar of desiccant inside the interior. You can usually buy it at any storage facility.
Some people will also chose to protect against critters crawling up the tailpipe by inserting a ball of common steel wool in the tail pipe. The steel wool will keep them out, plus, if you forget to pull them out when starting the car, they'll just blow out on their own. |

Air the tires up to about 38. It will help prevent flat spotting.

2nd,
depending upon how over the top you are about your car, and I think that I'm in the top 1 or so percentile of being whacked anal about storage, here is what I do: Mine is stored in a heated garage with a concrete floor. I put a larger-than-the-car canvas tarp onto the concrete, then I put a blue plastic poly tarp on top of the canvas. The canvas is to prevent most of the moisture coming from the concrete from reaching the undercarriage of the car. The poly tarp is to stop what the canvas does not. Next, I cut pieces of hard pink insulating into four 12" X 24" pieces and drive the car onto them. Then I inflate my tires about 40 psi. I add Stabil, run the engine for about 25 minutes at varying RPM levels, then top up the tank full of 93 octane. I put on a battery tender, then as HRDTD suggests, I put bags of desiccant throughout the car - back seats, front seats, trunk and this year I put one under the hood (no, I don't know why!). I put Bounce sheets everywhere throughout the car as well. Same places as the desiccant. Mice seemingly don't like them. I then put a ring of rodent killer cubes all around the perimeter of the car. Car cover over clean paint of course. I think that's all... |

To go really over the top look into those car bubbles! Completely encloses the car and keeps everything out!

It's important that you fill the tank with non ethanol fuel.

Actually, that's why you should use fuel stabilizer. It helps prevent the corrosive effects caused by the ethanol. And good luck finding higher octane non-ethanol in most places. Can only get 91 here, at 60 cents more per gallon than 93.
