Differential

Differential is either eating up the gear oil or what is happening? I found alot of shavings on the plug magnets and I don't see it leaking anywhere. Half of the oil was drained

How much drained out? It only holds one quart....and depending on mileage and age of oil, lots of metal shavings on the drain plug is very normal

If there’s no leaks, which you would be able to tell easily maybe it was under filled. Change it, fill it, and drive a few hundred miles. Drain again. Make sure it’s flushed. And refill it again and monitor it. That’s what I would do. It’s easy enough to drain and fill the thing. A differential doesn’t just use fluid like a motor can sometimes. So if it’s not leaking out, it’s not like it’s evaporating.

How long and how many miles was that fluid in there for?

Not leakin from the axle seals? The older original seals were know to have probs with newer fluids....when I upgrades to 1LE axles I replaced the seals at the same time...

otherwise the above is a good idea...most use Mobile LS fluid but since Lucas was only a $1 more...

good luck!

peace

This! I was thinking the same thing and was going to mention it as well. The new fluid eats the older seals and can result in leaks.

Axle seals were wet along the edges I change it every 20,000 miles.

Did you warm up the oil by driving around before draining?

Yes I even tilted the car to the farthest left, tried siphoning out but nothing more came out.

That is disturbing! If there are no visible leaks, it sounds like you had a partial fill. Possibly you are not the original owner?

Here's some useful information on differential oil:

Differential fluid for 2010 Camaro V8:

75W-90 GM p/n 88900401

Friction Modifier GM p/n 88900330. Use full bottle, pouring before diff fluid.

Warning:

Do not use diff fluid GM p/n 88862624. It is not compatible with axle seals on 5th Generation Camaro! This so called "new" oil is for Gen6 cars.
