Skinnies up front ???

How much time can i expect to gain in the 1/4 mile by installing skinnies up front ? Ive got a 13 ZL1 w 650 to the wheels. Best 60ft is 1.6 sec and 10.9 in the 1/4. Is it worth the $$$ to go to skinnes ???

You will barely gain .05, and the downside is the instability and terrible braking. I made the switch on my Mustang years ago, and nearly wrecked at the end of the track because the car is designed to put a lot more braking through the front tires and now there is no traction. Unless it is a straight drag car, I would stay with something more stable.

Gained about a tenth on a 4th gen. The major benefit is you are dropping about 50lbs of un-sprung weight off the front of the car. Cornering and braking suffer quite a bit so I would not daily drive on them with a 4000+ lb car. I never had any problems at the track stopping as long as the track has an adequate shutdown area (most NHRA 1/4 mile tracks do). I will be running a set of 17"welds this summer tying to move up on the bolt-on list and plan on making back to back runs with stock vs 17x5s to see how much of a gain i get.

Totally worth if it you are into drag racing. You can drop about 25 lbs a corner and cut down on rolling resistance.

Not sure about TTTA's experience, but I daily drive on skinnies all summer.
