Chevy's online accessory site and dealer install?

Has anyone bought an accessory off the official chevy site for installation at your dealership? I recently purchased a set of rockers and the front splitter for my 2SS. The website gave me the option to ship for free to dealer or for $243 I could ship to dealer and have them installed. Now I'm being told the fee was wrong and I might have to pay more for installation.

Has this happened to anyone else?

Installation of extra accessories is never free, you'll pay their hourly rate for the job. Better off installing them yourself, these specific parts can be installed with a screwdriver and a simple ratcheting wrench.

(Okay, you might need a riveter for the splitter, I for one didn't put rivets into the splitter, because it has about 14-15 bolts holding it along with double sided tape, and I didn't think rivets would make a difference in strength but are a major PITA to remove if need be; the splitter has been attached firmly for years and hasn't moved at all.)

The best thing about ordering them directly with the dealership (or via the GM accessories site) is that you don't pay for shipping, which is usually substantial for these large body parts.

The dealer installation price is what is agreed to on the Chevy Accessories website, I think when I got mine on an old car I had it was a complete GM ground effects kit, the dealer wanted to charge more, then I showed them the dealership install fee for their dealership on Chevy Accessories so I got them give that price.

If you paid for dealership installation at $243 on Chevy Accessories and that’s the amount listed for your dealership when you selected them on the Chevy Accessories website that’s all that you should be paying for sure. When you select a certain dealer for installs on the Chevrolet Accessories website the install price is for that specific dealer.

I never said I expected it to be free. I did say that they listed it as $243 to "Ship to dealer and install", that price includes installation. Now I'm being told it could be upwards of $601 for installation even though the Chevy site still lists it as $243.

Either way, for $243 it is worth it for me to have them install it, IMO. For $601 I will get my rivet tool and drill out, put the car on my lift and do it myself. Guess I find out for sure next week.

I did, I bought the factory splash guards and sent them to a dealer in DE. I'm in MD ugh! and it was tax free and not that far, they installed them with my free oil change. Easy and the install is covered by my B2B.

I just ran the same set of GM side skirts that I recently purchased (through another vendor) through the Chevy site and it gave me a price to ship to dealer and install for $300. If that was the route I had gone, I would have held them to the original quoted price for sure.

I ended up paying $240 through my dealer to have mine installed, so I'd say $243 is a fair price.

This is accurate. Whatever is on the accessory site is the total cost to install that accessory. You pay it up front, and the dealer can get bent if they don't like it.

Any issues, I would call Chevy directly and let them know that the dealer is refusing to honor the price, but also find another dealer that WILL honor it.

One thing I found out when looking to purchase from Chevy Accessory site is that the dealer install price is different from dealer to dealer.

For example, my local dealer in Florida charges $360 to install the Rocker Panels while a dealer local to me in Pennsylvania charges only $114.

I would call the Chevy Accessory Site customer service line and tell them the dealer isn't honoring the price.

Good Luck

I got the illuminated front bowtie, 15% off on sale through the website then I used my points to knock another $75 off. I chose the "ship and install", paid the price per chevy's site and it was done with no word about price other then to confirm it was prepaid.

Whoever is saying it may be more is either misinformed, was scammed or if its a dealer then the dealer is trying to scam you and should be avoided.

The car has been to the dealer and is now back. No problems with the dealer other than a comment about me getting a deal on the installation price by buying off the Chevy site when I picked it up.
