Bummer story

My brother placed an order for a 2024 Camaro SS back in July - after 4 months, he got confirmation from the dealer to expect delivery early Dec. Weeks go by and no update from the dealer. Finally, got a call yesterday that the his Riverside blue Camaro was totaled in transit - no other information available.

Now he and the dealer is scrambling to source another manual SS coupe but it's nearly impossible given the end of production and limited inventory.

Feel bad for him as he was stoked after driving my 1LE and even ordered winter wheel/tire combo in Nov once he got his VIN and confirmation the car was built.

That is a Bummer Story.

After looking at the GM site There appears to be plenty of Camaros out there.

If it's true, that sucks big time. I'd want proof that it was totaled and not someone paying the dealer a big premium to get it.

I think he would find most of those are spoken for. The cars supposedly at the dealer, aren't really there, or are already spoken for. Any of the higher end units " In Transit" are also spoken for. I called dozens of dealerships that showed they had cars, or had cars coming in-transit, and it was extremely frustrating. They leave cars on their site as chum, hoping people will call and they can talk them into something else.

That is a major bummer. There are 2SS's out there to be had but might be a little bit of settling involved. You definitely can't go by the Chevrolet website of what inventory is available.

That is definitely a bummer. Did the dealer offer / show your brother details about the order status? Did they show the order was ever accepted? Built? Provide a VIN once it was in transit? If not details were ever provided along the way, I would be suspect of that story as a whole because the timing seems way too "quick" from when the order was placed to "in transit."
