I have the BBK stainless steel shorties and feel they are superior in construction ( T-304 stainless ) and equal to if not better in performance to the DT's or JBA's. None of the shorties will show long tube power gains although if mated with high flow midpipes a sizable gain will be realized and not require a tune like long tubes and high flow cats. All depends on what you want.

I'd love to see a before and after dyno test of the shorties along with a set of hi-flo cats. it hink you might see better gains that just a header swap

I think I'm going to just go with these Borla shorty headers. I know the DT's are the most used, but these look like the the best fit with the pipe bends down and out of the way. I guess it's good to have many different brands to choose from. . . 2010 Camaro Borla Shorty Headers 17258 2011 SS V8

After I purchased one set of BBK shorties it was enough for me. So much weld build-up in the primary tubes I had to take a die grinder to get the pipe the diameter it was advertised to be.

Sounds like a good idea....we have three DT Shorty Cars with JBA Mids runnin around here.

I know that they all rival LT cars....pretty close.

Still shocks me as to why people still try to find a better "mousetrap."

I was one of the first to install the BBK shorties and alerted BBK that the steering shaft needed to be disconnected and collapsed up towards the steering wheel, takes all of 1 minute to do. The steering shaft DOES NOT need to be removed as posted. The BBK shorties come with nice hardware ( again, I alerted BBK and found the hardware for them ) to mount the header collector to the mid pipes. After over a year with my BBK stainless headers I have no complaints. The are lighter than the OEM manifolds, look better, change the tone of the exhaust a bit and have a seat of the pants increase in the 3000 to 6500 rpm range. When I had JBA Hi flow cats/mid pipes behind them, the sound was great there was a very noticeable increase in power. The cork in the OEM exhaust is the 4 - 600 cell cats in the mid pipes. Changing the mid pipes to Solo or JBA's with only 2 - 200 cell cat mid pipes is the biggest bang for the buck, add a CAI and shorties and you get about as much power possible with bolt on parts that don't require a tune.
