You got it! I figured it would be a good fit for this thread.

Mark may be no BS, but he isn't full disclosure.

Only one question, why not?

No questions. We'll watch and wait for the official announcement. The only thing that would screw up the plan is the sale off 1,000 or so last minute ZR1 ;-)

It really does remind one of 1969 and 1970. Pounding out super muscle cars before there gone. :(

There are several possibilities left and I think it depends on what engines are being built in the relocated facility from Wixom to Bowling Green.

You could easily do a LS7 end of run as an option in the Camaro. Look at the Corvette. They plopped the LS7 into the convertible for an end of run special edition.

They could do the same for the LSA/LS9 as well.

Just depends on what they are still building in the hand build plant. The LS3 with dry sump is gone I guess as that was for the Grand Sport. I'm guessing they ended the LS9 production with the the ZR1 though so not sure if they held some back for a special occasion. Are they building LS7 in BG now? But that is now the only Wixom engine that would still be in production and why would you move Wixom to BG if the last of the hand built engines is in the Camaro now?

I haven't seen anything beyond they moved Wixom to BG. Nothing on what engines were moved and which ones were discontiniued.

Dumb question, did the 1LE get the Grand Sport LS3 with dry sump?

No. 1LE didn't get the dry sump LS3. That would have been great but would have raised the price. I would have gotten it though and just gone for a 1SS instead of 2SS, same as if the ZL1 brakes were offered as an option. I gave up the RS package for the Recaros, which are delayed at the moment.

My best guess is the LS7s are leftovers on a warehouse shelf. The LS9s are surplus too. I have no insider scoop. I am pretty good at putting disparite bits of information together.

I suspect the PBC's move to BG would indicate fresh production will take place there. LT4s, i.e.?

http://media.gm.com/content/media/us...linggreen.html

As to exactly what is/was moved from Wixom, and whether more LS7/LS9 production is/will happen, if they moved the bar codes, then why not a few more?

BTW, this was my tour group from the Woodward Dream Cruise open house, August '11.

.
Someone mentioned a ZL1-R. That would be a suitable sayonara for Gen-5. Could they sell 69 of those?

Yes..................................yes they could. And they could charge whatever they wanted at that point. Can you say most expensive Chevrolet ever built?
