Traction is one thing that is keeping me from doing a race fuel tune. I could gain 100whp, but I already have trouble hooking in 2nd on the street and I only drive on the street so do I really want to go down that rabbit hole? lol. I think I'll leave it alone for one more year before I make a decision.

Finally going to be getting my 427 soon, they just called a couple days ago to verify my shipping address. Been waiting for the M311 heads to come in for what seems like forever.

Hello
Hey, Love you build, you need to update with what is going on now. I have found some of your ideas interesting and have shown it to my wife in my own defence...
Also post some more picks of your engine compartment, I am always looking for the next mod or gadget!! Thanks, Victor |

Update? well... NO TRACTION. While I plan to push the setup and make as much power as the G4 will produce, I dont see how I can use it on the street. I've already done the BMR drag suspension with strange coilovers, wilwood brakes, 325/50/15 MT ET R tires at 16psi cold, and installed a larger pulley to lower the boost until I get the suspension working. But damn, it just wont hook. I'm going for a drag alignment and possibly pulling the front swaybar. If you like gadgets, check out the N2MB WOT box. cheap fun. Nothing like WOT rips to get groceries, lol. Once January rolls around I get a whole new set of Vacation days, plus an extra week this year! Wooooot! So I should find some car time. I'm planning to do a private track rental to figure this thing out, or snap my axles. Whichever comes first.

I used to think being able to spin my tires when at highway speeds would be cool. Quite on the contrary, it sucks. 2nd gear loses traction with more than 8psi (around 60mph). 3rd gear with 16psi (at around 100mph). Can't really do hard WOT pulls for street tuning. But, that's using Michelin Pilot Sport 4's.

As far as enjoying the car on the street, the sbe and g3x at around 830whp had the best “fun factor”. Once I get some power numbers for ESS, I will probably turn it down to go faster.

Right! And, doing a 4th gear pull to redline is totally out of the question with my 3.25 gears. 195mph at 7500rpm... Gotta get to a dyno and strap the car down to do anything over 15psi around here. Oh, the problem of having power (traction, costs, breakage)

When I was around 825whp, that was pretty good for street and at events (drag, autocross, mile, grocery run) and totally agree with your statement. Being able to vary the boost is a nice feature. Got mine able to swing 5psi to 28psi with my solenoid setup. I have the boost controller turned off during the Winter around here (traction in Colorado with freezing tires) so 5psi it is.

The rear is only slightly lowered on the strange coil overs. I have it set halfway right now.

I don't have a whole lot of experience with them with only about 12 passes but I'm running the Strange front coilovers. Same ones they have on the Copo's. Down side to them is they don't have mounts for the speed sensor, brake line or the Sway bar. I just made my own mounts for the brake line and speed sensor, pretty easy to do. Of course if you want to have the option of using a sway bar the strange ones are not going to be your choice. Also my factory rims don't clear the coilover, I don't know if anyone else has that problem. I always run my skinnies anyways so not a big deal for me. They work though, as you can see I have plenty of suspension travel for weight transfer.
