What's the scoop on bird poop?

Ok I know it happens. But this is the issue. I just bought a 2012 Transformers edition with the carbon matte stripes. The stripes are two-toned. I took my car to work and of course a bird used it for target practice. I came home and washed off all the poop. Unfortunately on one place on the flat black stripe on the hoop, the urea in the pooop has caused almost a bubbling, if you will , of the stripe. Has anyone ever had this happen? And if so how do you protect the stripes? I know you can't wax them. Any ideas?

Theres not a whole lot you can do. Bird bombs are pretty nasty things, typically pretty acidic and full of all manner of undigested grit from bug carcasses, seeds from plants, even small pebbles that some birds eat to help with digesting food.

If you were dealing with a painted surface then the solution is simple... keep a good coat of wax or sealant on there and remove the contamination as quickly as possible. With vinyl you really are screwed... you can apply a dressing like our Super VRT to it, but you'll only be buying yourself a small amount of time before thats even gone.

Wish I had better advice for you, but honestly the best medicine is prevention... which is almost impossible b/c birds love to bomb cars.

Well that is what I figured. Thanks for the replies. I am getting a car cover and while my car is here at work, I plan on keeping it covered. Thanks.

You CAN wax stripes, use a spray wax like this: http://www.detailedimage.com/Optimum...P280/17-oz-S1/
I use it every time on my stripes and you can feel the difference, as well as tell its lasting longer than the stripes I had before I replaced with the current ones.

gotta clean em asap after something gets on them, bubbling is strange, ive seen discoloration, they shouldnt be lifting off the car? And if they are, you can go back to the dealer and claim that its an install error, but ive never seem them lift off the car from bird poop
