Our Tomahawk Hood Vent may suit your needs, plus it has a removable drip tray for those non-track days.

Do not remove this.

That seal is there to keep air from entering in under the hood. Look at the older cars, why do you think they call it "COWL INDUCTION" hoods? That let the air into the car.

This is the hood we came up with for our World Challenge car, and all W.C. Camaros including the championship winning Blackdog racing Camaro from last year.

Exactly the same, both 26lbs

I would love to have LG's hood. I believe it is lighter, but it is a LOT more than I paid for this, at least they used to be.

They also had the induction system sealed to the low pressure area of the cowl direct to the carb. Are you actually claiming that the air is forced in the opposite direction of travel of all high speed air pushing to the back of the car through some sort of reversion? The seal keeps hot air and fumes out of the HVAC inlet, unimportant on a track car that can't run a/c and has the windows down.

The HVAC inlet is at the base of the windshield for the same reason the functional cowl induction hoods had their intake there... when the car is moving the base of the windshield is a "stagnation point". The air slows down as it is forced to change direction by the windshield, and because it slows down the pressure increases. Higher pressure air will flow towards a lower pressure area. This provides a natural flow of air into the HVAC system, and with a sealed cowl induction system provides slightly pressurized (or at least not low pressure) air to the engine. I don't have data to say whether the Camaro engine bay at speed is at a lower pressure than the base of the windshield, but for most cars it is. This can be easily checked by taping some pieces of string to the back of the hood and seeing which direction they go. Most likely what you will see is that with the weatherstrip removed, the string will be drawn around the edge of the hood towards the engine bay because the air is flowing into the engine bay.

I can tell you from being in the wind tunnel that the air will hit the base of the wind shield and suck back under the hood, even with louvers in it and draw air in under the base of the windshield.

This was one of the areas on our race program that dramatically helped front end lift at speed.

Pay attention to the NASCAR guys...the only opening there is the INLET for the engine.

Corvette C6R...in this class you can seal the radiator directly to the hood, and that is the only opening used to vent for downforce (same principle as the louvers).

This was our Corvette in the tunnel, and you can see in this picture we were testing taping the hood to the windshield to see what it does sealed and un-sealed.

I wish we were, but I believe the new shop is just about done, and I am afraid we are going to be moving during the event.

Very nice looking hood vent. Do these clear the 1LE strut tower brace? What is the cost of these?
