I love my backup camera. When Ofer was down for CFII he helped put in his new harness as I had everything else already ran. This mod makes backing up a breeze now. I got everything for about $280, but I think since many of us are getting these some vendors on e-bay and such are seeing the demand and raising prices. Ofer's price is very good and this way you get all the componets from one source.

Someone pm'ed me a question about the hole for the camera, so I thought I would post it here:

I just used a 3/8" drill bit. I wiggled it from side to side to make the hole oblong, as the plugs on the camera harness won't fit through a 3/8" hole. The paint around the edges did crack a little, but I don't see the big deal, as the mounting surface of the camera is over an 1", so it completely covers that hole.

Does the plastic cover that extends from the headliner to the rear view mirror mount have to be removed or can it snap back in after

Did any of you who did this mod have to install a new retainer after removing the apillar? Read something that its a one time use only and needs replaced. Just wondering before ordering the part.
